Is this amount of dust common ? Blower method no-workie.
Edit: Seems like the sweep method worked best. I asked the wife to get me a medium eye (something) brush and that did wonders to reduce the dust. Method: a) Got a $0.50 US (equivalent) makeup brush. b) Washed it with a diluted solution of mild shampoo. No detergent. c) Let it dry. d) Dip the brush in alcohol. (I used Iso-propyl alcohol) e) Used my wife's hair dryer to ensure all of the alcohol had evaporated and the brush was drier than a camel's butt. f) Sweep method for cleaning the sensor. Results: a) The central area of the sensor showed a HUGE improvement. b) There was some residual dust that seemed to congregate on one side. This I gathered was largely due to the brush strokes ending there. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Xponent, |

I heard of this stuff called "Discofilm" which is a liquid that you apply to the sensor and then peel it off, taking the dust with it. It was developed especially for this kind of thing and is said to be completely safe to apply. I heard about it on a podcast called "Tips from the Top Floor" episode 185. I haven't tried it myself though.

I'm waaaaaaay too scared to mess with liquids right now. I brushed the sensor a few more times and it seems to have done the job. Apart from 1 spec thats towards a corner and I think I can live with that.
