Yes, wonderful photos, Nation - tho' I wondered at a couple of the captions!

Nora must have been frozen to the very marrow when she first met snow - she wasn't exactly dressed for winter. Hope she didn't suffer afterwards.

There's one pic - alfresco - and I can't remember where it is - where the steep mountain slope is outlined by something. Pines? Do you know why one half of the mountain is bare, and, presumably, the other not? Is it something to do with skiing?

Now I find that there's a whole new world in Lichtenstein - another whole new world! It's so tantalising!

Thanks for posting them.

No,it wasn't cold atthe summit of Pilatus Mallee. That was just a patch of `leftover` snow, hidden from the sun.
I guess the lack of forest on some sides of the hills is because of lack of soil. Although, we seem to grow pines anywhere in NZ !
We didn't stay long in Leichtenstein. More or less a comfort stop. But what we did see was interesting.
I know Nora closed her eyes for most of the 40 minute climb up Mount Pilatus in the `rack and pinion`train. I think she still feels giddy , looking at the video !!

Don't leave town , till you've seen the country.

Beautiful snaps again nation, when we were in Lucerne in August it was just a little misty. I would have loved to have seen snow (never seen it so far).

Cheers

Jewel! When Nora came to New Zealand, her first wish was to experience snow. For a person that had only experienced temperatures as low as 25 degrees c for winter, it was quite a picture to see this adult scooping up handfuls of the white stuff !
This was on the volcano Ruhapehu ,(that exploded into life the following year) !
Me ? I'd seen enough of the darned stuff, having spent the first 45 years of my life in England !! Digging cars out of the night's snow, to get to work on time, at 6-00am, is no fun !
