Nation, I've been sitting gazing at the slideshow (thanks for the captions), and don't know what to say. It's captivating. Eerily ancient and modern. I don't know if it's the photographer (there's a v. high standard on this BB, isn't there!) or the scenes - or both.

Whose was the tomb in the temple of Horus?

The papyrus paintings were lovely. I'll have to go a-googling again to find out more about them, like, do the colours last; do they have to be kept under glass, or in controlled temperatures; what is used for the ink (it looked a bit like acrylics, but that sounds impossible!), and, of course, how they have to be packed for safe travel. Did you send them hom separately?

I've found that I'm a sucker for touristy souvenirs - and only 2 have gone to their intended recipients! After all, they all got post cards - isn't that enough?

Have you decided that you're definitely never going to travel o/s again?

The chef was carving the melon, was he? So the knife had gone on the melon, and might have been carrying germs. Did you eat it? (The melon, that is, not the knife.)

THe temple was built in honour of the god of Falcons. So I guess it's Horus in the casket !
We went to several places on the tour Mallee. An alabastar factory. Impressive , but dear. Same with the perfume place, where they make the essence that are the basics used by the big companies to create their perfumes.
But I was really impressed by the Papyrus factory. They showed you how the paper was made. Not sure of the paint used. But each painting has a guarantee with it. We chose the framed pictures , rather than rolling up a larger picture.
No problem getting them home in the suitcase , and no special treatment once they are hung on the wall !

Don't leave town , till you've seen the country.

Customs weren't interested in papyrus Cottontail. We were willing to open the suitcase, but they just " Nah !
Perhaps, because they were framed and behind glass ?
I made a mistake in the size of pictures. They're 9"X7". Not centimetres.
