The wandering Hippo, Nonkululeko ("free" in Zoeloe) was shot after a local man was found dead in the area where the Hippo was seen. An autopsy still has to be performed to assess whether it was indeed the Hippo that had killed the man. Animal Rights Africa is outraged and asked for an investigation. Sad.

Did you take that photo, Dalene? Did it happen close to your place?

I thought that hippos were really dangerous - as dangerous as crocodiles. i.e., they threaten us, therefore they have no rights.
Are they a problem?

No, Mallee, I did not take the photo but it happened in my province, Kwazulu-Natal. I wanted to share something from home and I wanted to see if I can post a photo on the Photo Gallery. Yes, wandering Hippos are a great danger but so far we haven't had a problem. It is just sad that it couldn't be captured.
