Hello. I am planning to take an escorted tour to Europe in 2001. I do not have any friends that want to go with me. Can anyone advise on travelling alone with Trafalgar?
Usually I can do things alone, however, this will be my first time overseas. Will I have to eat dinner alone? If the trip has options, should I take them? Thanks. |

Ebony,
I look a tour on my own in September to Italy and had the time of my life, I'm glad I did it solo. You will have so much fun. Where are you going? You only will be alone if you chose to be by yourself. There were serveral of us solos and we were easily adopted a part of a group. As for options, I personally think it was worth every penny. I was on the Italian Holiday and so our time there was very brief, so the options were the best way to see the most. And it helped that we had a great tour director, Romano and driver Antonio. Have a great trip. Cathy |

I haven't decided where I want to go yet. I plan on trying to find a tour sometime in September. I would love to visit Paris and Rome. I have not received the 2001 list of tours yet. Ebony |

I took the Britain-Ireland tour and then the Europeon Whirl tour in September by my self and had a great time. There was others that came alone. After a few days everyone is just one big family. Everybody looks out for each other. Of course there is times when it would have been nice to have a traveling partner, but 99% of time is was fine. You'll have a great time! This was my first time to europe and can't wait to go back. Have a fantastic time and let me know how it was. Take all the options! They were the best part of the tours. Everyone eats together.I congratulate you on being bold enough to go it alone. It's not easy. Mary |

Hi Ebony, Your question seems to be listed under photography. You might want to repost under a separate "Travelling alone" item. You should get many more ideas there. Just a suggestion. Cheers! |

Hi Ebony,
Go to "The Trafalgar Experience-Europe" and open it. Then put your "Traveling Alone" question there, just like you did under "Photography". You should get a lot more ideas there. |

Ebony, Gosh you live close to us...we're in Calvert County! Our family is going on the Best of Europe trip the end of July. We haven't finalized dates yet because 200l books aren't out yet. Good luck on your tour.

Dear Ebony: Yes, do go alone. A man about forty was on our tour and he has been alone on so many bus tours all over the world. He had a seat to himself on the bus, his own room (sometimes he asks for a match, sometimes he pays the extra) and always plenty of people to talk with at mealtimes and during the sightseeing. The tables at breakfast times in the hotels dining-rooms were different sizes, some held four people and others were set for up to twelve people. The tables are reserved for your own bus tour and you will be directed to the tables for your bus group. You will have to sit with your fellow travellers, so don't worry that you will be alone. During the week, we were able to at one time or another sit with almost everyone on the tour. In fact I even watched for two empty places at a table just so I could meet and talk with more people on our group.
If my husband didn't want to go with me, I wouldn't hestitate to go alone but would probably pay the single supplement to have my own room. |

P.S. Excuse my poor typing above. I meant to type breakfast and dinner, so you will enjoy companionship at both meals. Don't be afraid of lunching by yourself as this may be free time to shop or walk around sightseeing for an hour or two. Buy a take-out sandwich and beverage.

Please go alone you will have a blast. I have done it since 1996 with no regrets or problems. Although this was my first year with Trafalgar I had a great time. The important thing to do is make sure you have read all your documentation, know what's included and what's not and then decide what you want to do and you'll have a great time. The good thing about a group is that you always have company for breakfast, dinner, during the day etc. Having travelled alone (on my own) a number of times, I appreciated having people to talk to at meals, sightseeing, shopping etc. Met a great shopping mate(thanks LT6064 ) But a couple of times I did my own thing and went off (even if it was for 1/2 hour). I also got the single supplement so I had a room on my own every night and would definetly do that again. |
