It depends on the size of your pictures.
As you say yourself, a CD holds 700MB of data. If you have, say, a 4 or 5 MPixel camera, a typical picture will probably be about 2MB in size, in which case a CD will hold about 700/2 = 350 pictures. One thing, by the way. I notice you said that you bought CD-RW disks. I would strongly urge you _not_ to use CD-RWs. Although the ability to erase them may seem attractive, they are _much_ more fragile than plain single-use CD-Rs, and are _not_ a good thing to use for long-term data storage. Use normal CD-R disks. Their cost is trivial, and your pictures will be a _lot_ safer! Regards, Chris |

Thank you Chris, you always give the best advice.
As I will not store my CD's it will be ok to use the once I have. I will just take the CD to the store and have the pictures printed. |

Do you plan to have your pictures printed, and then delete the picture files? You could do that, of course, but it's a good idea to keep the files in case you want additional prints in the future, or you want to look at the pictures on your computer or TV!

I agree with Chris, it is important to keep a back-up of your pictures. Your prints might be destroyed down the road. I think backing up on two CDs is a good idea and then keep the extra CD in a separate place, such as a relative's home.

One point that's perhaps worth making is that, although CD-R disks are a "write once" medium, you don't have to write everything to them in one go. You can write a few pictures to a CD, then come back and write more to that same CD, then more, etc, until the CD is full up.
