This topic may have been covered before, but I keep reading conflicting reports on the internet about damage to digital storage cards. Some people even claim to have had the camera itself damaged by the x-ray scanners. Is there any validity to these claims?

No effect on digital cards, unlike film. You'll be safe

High intensity radiation can "scramble" data on solid state memory devices, but the low intensity X-rays used in airport scanners are safe.
