Definitely take as much as you think you'll need. I've never had any xray damage with 200 or 400 film, even if I had left over film and took it on another trip later. Europe film prices were roughly double that in Canada.

On my last trip, I had to purchase additional film and it was well over double what I would have paid had I planned better and bought it before the trip. In case you're worried about not being able to find it, film was readily available everywhere we went. I've read that a good estimate is to plan on taking at least 1 roll per day (unless you're a shutterbug, in that case
more.) I'd also plan on either putting a new battery in your camera before you leave, or bringing along a spare. Found that out the hard way also.

Thanks so much for the information on this subject of film. Have been wondering how much to take as well. I plan on taking lots of pictures as I want lots of memories. Would also like to know if it is better to wait till you get home to have film developed. Is it also pricey to have this done in Europe.?Will be staying some extra time in London after tour and was thinking of getting film developed there. Anyone know if this is reasonably priced there? Well it is only 3 weeks today before we leave. Getting excited!! Hope everyone else has a great holiday. Jill Smiler Big Grin

I took 2 separate tours back to back last year. A total of 60 days! I took 75 rolls of Fuji film, mostly 400, and used 63 rolls.

I had 2 rolls developed in London and the price wasn't too bad compared to here in the States. I had them developed to make sure my camera was working correctly after the first 31 day tour. Great pictures!! Developed at Jessop's in London.

I carried extra batteries with me also. And I needed them before the second tour was over.

Always be prepared!
Good traveling!!

film is readily available in Europe though did have trouble gettting hold of 400 speed film but would definately buy enough especially from australia before you leave. We bought three rolls from the stores here for $15.oo where through out Europe it was more like $20 Aus per single roll though did manage to find some places with better deals like 2 rolls for $20
We went through 45 rolls of film and were away 7 1/2 weeks. think it was roughly half 24 exp and 36 exp. In that time we did a 22 day tour of Europe with 2 extra nights in Paris, an 11 day tour of England,Wales and Scotland and we spent 12 nights in London and another 3 nights in Norfolk.
