I tried and they are all very tiny and when I try and enlarge they look terrible. There are beautiful pictures that I would like to use to replace some of my that didn't turn out well. I know this is probably easy but..... any and all help appreciated.

Hi hudsonpw,
If you mean download to the Trafalgar site, then have a look at these instructions by Dragon in the members gallery. How to post a photo album Missie |

Missie, I had a look at this post yesterday, and much as I would like to help hudsonpw, I don't know where to begin. It all very dependent on your system software, and there is no easy answer. I think what you are referring to is how to post pictures on the Trafalgar Website, not how to retrieve them.
For interest - I used to be able to examine and save photos from the Trafalgar website if I wanted to - these days if I look at the member's gallery, I get an automatic slide show, with no facility for saving a photo, just printing - I assumed this was part of the new setup, but on closer examination I see it is Flash Player 9 which is taking control. To many variables to give good advice as far as I am concerned, I will leave it up to those who are expert in computer matters. |

Obviously way over mine too (not easy, purely because of stature), dearest Missie, or I would be able to give an answer! Meanwhile you and I are the only one's game to reply!

hudsonpw - please forgive us - we really don't know the answer to your question, but I tend to think that it depends on which software opens up to display the images you are looking at.
If you see small pictures which look 'chunky' when you expand them, then you are probably looking at 'thumbnails' - ie a very low resolution miniature picture which is a guide to what is there on the gallery. The pictures which I see are always full size and of the same quality as when uploaded to the gallery. There are so many differences between software and settings on any individual computer that only the very wise few can give you the advice that you really need! |

Steve, it is still possible to save pictures from the BB to your hard drive.
When the picture you want appears, left click your mouse on the picture itself and this will pull out a menu from the side. Select Detach Image from that menu and when the new detached picture appears simple right click on the picture, select Save As … and away you go. |

Hi hudsonpw, if you are downloading pics from the BB then the pics will no doubt have been reduced in size (and perhaps quality as I often do) to post them on the BB. This means that to retain the quality of the pic you will be restricted to the size of the pic that you are downloading. However, you can improve your chance of a better enlargement if you can first convert your saved jpg image to a tif image before you attempt to enlarge it. Once you have enlarged to the maximum you can, without too much loss of quality, then you resave your image as a jpg again which will give you a much smaller file than a tif. |

Thanks Dragons - I saw the detach picture option - tried it, but got nowhere after that - does everyone get a slide show these days (ie is it part and parcel of the gallery?). I see that you can change the download resolution, but hesitated to mention it as I didn't know whether it was peculiar to my software or a generic option! |

Just tried it Dragons - but I don't get the 'save as' option - not that I ever need to. The slide show just continues!

Ah that must be my problem when I click 'detach image', I don't get a new picture - more investigation required - here goes another day! |

Problem solved - security settings in Firefox were blocking the pop up window that the detached image was in - enabling pop ups from the Trafalgar site solves the problem - thanks Dragons.

Hi Steve,
Glad you got it sorted out OK. Sorry for not responding to you earlier. Be assured I was not ignoring you. I just don't come on as often as I used to and when I am on I may only look at a portion of the BB at that particular time. |
