Hi!

Wow a photography forum...I guess this would be the place to ask. I'm thinking about taking one of the CostSaver tours...the 25-day European Festival tour to be exact, and I was curious about something photographically. Although this sounds like the dream tour and it covers so much ground, I'm kinda hesitant to book it because I don't know what tours like this are like. (Never been on one.) I'm one of those people that treasures the photographs from a trip more than the trip itself (sad perhaps, oh well) and I wonder if most of the time on these tours is spent on the bus, or if they frequently make short stops to let you get out and take some photos. My main fear is that much of the sightseeing is done from the bus where it's near impossible to get a decent unobstructed photograph. Does anyone have any experiences? Perhaps with this tour specifically or any tour for that matter?

Any help from fellow photogs would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Chris,
Go to www.lpang.com, most of the European pictures were taken on a tour.
The answer to your questions may be depends on your iternary, these tours are design to give you a taste of things rather than let you see of alot in details.
When you read the iternary, a VISIT is usually a more detail upclose visit; but a VIEW or a SEE may be just a 15 minutes photo stop or so.
Also, beware that the cost saver tours's hotel locations are usually a bit far off from the centre of the city, thus it may be rather difficult for you to just wonder on your own to some sites; but as far as photography is concern, in Europe even a small town is full of opportunities.

Louie,
Thank you for sharing this info with me. I can see where you're getting at with the cost saver hotels being in more out of the way places so I think instead I'll aim for the first-class trip, I assume they are more in a central location.
It sounds like there is plenty of opportunity to take photos and at least with half the time on the road I'll be able to pace myself better, I have a tendency to push myself too far on trips.
Anyway thanks again for the info and sharing your photos with me. Good stuff!

Chris

It is great to see a place to exchange info on Photography. I will be going on the Best of Germany Tour in a few weeks and am a photo enthusiast. Has anyone been on that tour before? Or does anyone have any tips for photo ops on this trip? How did you protect your cameras on the trip?, I'm not that crazy about the trafagalr bag and want ed to bring a small carryon that I can lock but it has the telescopic wheels. Any suggestions would be helpful. THanks Debbie
