I have a Canon SD 870IS, can someone tell me the best way to get night shots. I've put it on the night setting but sometimes the pics are fuzzy and at times still to dark.

Thanks,

Seems to be a common problem. I have a Cannon Ixus65 & have just about given up on night shots.

Pitch black - good shot

Lots of light - good shot

Some (low) light - rubbish shot.

Handheld low light shots will always be a problem regardless of the camera used.

Your best bet is to use a tripod or some sturdy platform for a longer exposure.

Thanks,

Hi scrapper girl, I have a Canon powershot too. I suggest you adjust the exposure compensation to a negative value to avoid making the subject too bright in night shots. Or raise the ISO speed to use a fast shutter speed when you wish to reduce the effects of camera shake or avoid blurry subjects, or to turn the flash off when shooting in a dark area.

Post your general questions to a SD 870IS forum.
