Did I hear someone say that there are travel pages and stickers out? Where would I find them> You can tell I'm new at this but would love to do a TT book.

Hi Tootsiebelle . . . glad you found this thread! I have found travel papers and stickers at almost every store I shop at, including JoAnne's, Michael's, Shopko, K-Mart and Walmart. And all the small independent scrapbook stores will also have travel items.

Tootsie: There are little stores dedicated to the art of scrapbooking. They sell a dazzling array of papers, stickers, die-cuts, equipment and implements for cutting fancy shapes - you name it. It is easy to spend a small fortune in these places.
I have only done 1 scrapbook (x 12 copies) and it defeated me. But I am a lover of all kinds of paper, so these stores fascinate me. We have one perilously close to where I live. Come on over. I'll take you shopping! Smiler

Hi RaroGirl, like you, I am an avid scrapbooker, have 3 albums on the go right now...a glutton for punishment Big Grin
I could spend the day in Michael's...my husband sits out in the car with a book or has a snooze Big Grin Although I live in a small town, we have a couple of places that sells paper, sticker etc., but next week we have a store opening called "scrapaholics anonymous"......guess who is going in there on opening day Big Grin

Tootsie: if you Google "scrapbooking ideas" you will have so many sites your head will spin Big Grin My albums are not fancy but I do get carried away with the journaling, think it's nice to tell the story about the pics. Hopefully my kids will appreciate it some day when they look at the albums and know who is who.... and not sit saying "who on earth is that and WHAT are they doing" Wink

Caitie, aren't those little scrapbook stores amazing? I could spend hours in them. We only have one nearby, but I visit it at least twice a month and always find something to buy. I tend to just buy papers and stickers that I like on the basis that "someday I will be able to use this and if I don't buy it now, it won't be there!" Sound like a good philosophy? lol And, yes, one can certainly spend a fortune. But that's half the fun!

I have not done any scrapbooking but I know the type of store you're talking about. I had no idea there was such a thing until I saw one when I was out driving one day. It's not far away. Maybe I'll go check it out one day.

I have done a scrapbook on each of my trips plus I do an identical one for my daughter (my traveling companion on all my trips) so she has one to show her friends.

Scottie, the one I'm doing now on Italy I have started the same as you and am putting in tales of what went on in between the photos. I have typed out my tales from other trips and added them to my scrapbooks.

I'm running outta room for all my photo albums I have put together since I was 10 years old. While not perfectly done as scrapbooks, they have loads of memorabilia. I am pretty creative and also paint in acrylics so could really get into it, but still working full time just doesn't give me the time to devote the extra time required. How about the shadow boxes you hang on the wall? Someone recently mentioned freeform framing...no matting or blocking and you attach 3-D stuff straight away to the wall within the frame. All we need is time and money! Big Grin

Another neat suggestion is to get a map of the world and red push pin all the cities you have traveled to and then frame it. You'd have to to find the perfectly designed map, since some cities are quite close together and the push pins would get really crowded.

I like the idea of the map.

I just love getting out my photo albums and reliving my trips. Many people I know simply put their pictures on their computers and that's it. That's OK for them but I like my albums. I also keep all the various things that are handed out along the way: various pieces of information on tourist attractions, entry tickets, etc.

Roxy,
If I put a map on the wall and tried to put push pins in where I've actually been .. you would be able to throw DARTS at all the open space ... Big Grin

Actually is it a FANTASTIC idea and I love it Roxy just so you know!

My niece LOVES to scrapbook - for Christmas last year I had a whole lotta fun making her a big photo box full of supplies - just so much to choose from!

I have two big maps on the wall. One for Australia and one for the rest of the world. I just draw or rule the route taken on them in texta. I just love adding to them after a trip. I bought a full feature wall map like they have in places like the Flight Centre and plan to do a better job on it all when I have the time…..

I like the idea of trying to be a bit more creative with my photos, entry tickets etc. I refuse to allow them to be “archived” in some forgotten computer folder. Thanks for the tips. Great idea for a thread Smiler
