I've not done scrapbooking of holidays either. However I would be interested in hearing how people have set their pages up; what they have done and what they included on each page. Smiler

Quite a few years ago I did a photo album for one of my brothers 50th birthday. I gathered many photos of his life, contacted relatives and friends and asked them to write memory stories of events they shared with him, from childhood through to the present. These stories I typed onto parchment paper and then placed them next to the relevant photo. It has become one of his most treasured items.

I have since done a few of these albums for other family members. They are always a welcomed gift and the stories bring memories alive.

My daughter is hooked on making scrapbooks. She has done one for her England trip and another one for our Italy trip. She made another one full of friends stuff. She is getting ready to do another for our trip to Jamaica two weeks ago.

What a great idea to give paper and stickers as a gift! I hadn't even thought of that - but wow! guess I have a gift to work on for her! And if it's in a box big enough to hold everything, maybe I can get my dining room table back???? LOL

I have two sisters and a neice who are scrapaholics. A few years ago they asked me to contribute to a scrapbook that we put together for my Mom's 75th birthday. I was under extreme duress the whole time trying to make my pages look as good as theirs (they didn't!)I swore I would never scrapbook again, too much stress!!!

How things change.

I took an early retirement awhile ago, and now I'm actually looking forward to doing some scrapbooking of our Grand Alpine trip that we are taking in (drumroll) 7.5 weeks. I'll probably not start it until this coming winter, but I will be watching for your ideas on this thread.

One thing that my sister did for one of her scrapbooks, was to stand on the top of Mount Pilates in Switzerland, and take about a dozen pictures in a 360 degree circle around her. In her scrapbook, she shrunk down the views so they would fit, and has arranged the series of shots so that you can see what the view all around her looked like. She created labels on her PC with the names of all the mountains you see and labelled them. Quite impressive.

Penny,

What you have described here is Scrapbooking. You just need to be careful that if you want the scrapbook to last and hand on down through the generations you will need to use good products that will survive the test of time.

I recommend using only good quality papers that are Acid, Lignin and PVC free, that also applies to stickers and other products you put in the album. If you Google Scrapbooking there are lots of page layout examples to get you started.

I save money by making my own borders and photo fames etc. The initial outlay for cutters, rulers etc can be expensive but they will last a long time. I would suggest attending a couple of scrapbooking workshops just to get an idea of what it is all about. Smiler

One of the things I try to remember to do while traveling is take pictures of road signs and also other types of signs. You can then cut them out as silhouettes and use them on your pages. I took a picture in Ireland of one of their road signs with all the boards pointing in various directions and ended up cutting it out and placing it coming up from the back of another picture. It looks great.

Ahhh, Roxy. Thank you for explaining to me why I stink at scrapbooking. Smiler I never was good at that stuff as a kid. Why should I expect to be skilled at it now?

Hi

I, like most of you love scrapbooking. I am currently working on many books-last years trip to london, one about my dog, one about my pre school class, and a compilation of all of our christmas photos from the last 30 years. I try to find time to do one page a week.

Since the other thread was deleted i will put up the address for the travel scrapbook site: www.scrapyourtrip.com It has materials arranged by the different countries.

We have a few small scrapbook stores here n northern indiana that I absolutely love. At one the will try to find you whatever you need.

Also, I don't know about other countris, but here in the states they also have conventions for scrapbooking with classes and all the new products for sale.

Another great place to find materials is on ebay.

Time will tell. If it falls apart and fades, I will know I stuffed it up. Frowner Fortunately I have all the original negatives of the photos.

I'm not really into all the cutting out of shapes etc. I just want my photos to look good and have a bit of a story near them for memory. I would much rather be cutting fabric than paper. Smiler

Good Morning/Evening Tootsie,

Maybe we can all photograph a favourite page from our scrapbook and post it here. Smiler

Roxy,

That is probably the best, most inexpensive way of getting started. With Scrapbooking you are only limited by your imagination.
