I just want to know this .... if you have like 1,500 photos .. how the HECK do you plan a scrapbook around THAT many photos?

I mean REALLY ... that could take me the rest of my entire lifetime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eeker

At that point don't you just organize them in a beautiful album - somewhat labeled and include as many items that you purchased or obtained along the way as possible to put in there?!?!?!

Ummmmm scottie ..... you wanna know my opinion?!?!?!!? Big Grin Nahhhhhh .. I didn't think you did! Big Grin

Tammie . . . I would NEVER NEVER NEVER attempt to scrapbook all my photos, travel or otherwise. Best thing is to select your very best/favorite shots and go with those. I still put all my photos I deem worthy to print in a regular photo album. But the scrapbooks get the cream of the cream, so to speak. That makes it doable and you don't have so many pictures in your albums that it would be overwhelming for someone to look at them.

Okay I can wipe the beads of sweat off my forehead now RaroGirl! Big Grin I couldn't FATHOM putting that many photos into a scrapbook .. probably would need like 12 to get it all done!

Never mind the fortune to make it all come alive with all the wonderful things you can buy now for this purpose alone!

Do you find you duplicate some - so you have them in both scrapbook and album?

I have sooooo many photographs that I invested in a special container that I purchased from a scrapbooking outfit. It is a fairly large box with removable compartments that you can label with the relevant year or info. As some of you know, we have very long winter nights here in Ontario so I spent weeks sorting out pictures last winter. I found some of them had 10 different angles of the same subject Big Grin so it was a clearing process at the same time. Like RaroGirl said, the cream of the crop goes into the scrapbook, some I have set aside for my kids and the remainder hit the garbage can.
The pics are from the good old 35mm days.....now that I am going to go digital I won't have 10 pictures of the same thing Big Grin

Oh, absolutely! All the pics I want to print go in the regular photo album. So the scrapbook will have those same pics only a lot less of them. And some really good ones get blown up into 5x7s or even an occasional 8x10. Other people may do it differently, but that is what works for me.

If anyone is looking for a quick and easy solution to making albums out of their digital photos try making "photobooks" online at the Walmart of Shoppers Drug Mart websites. I just made a photobook out of my wedding photos! It took me about 3 hours to upload my photos and choose the layout and now I'm DONE!!! It only cost me $50 for a leather bound printed book and I think it will be here in the next 2 weeks!

Although you can't add ticket stubs, etc to the book it is a very easy, quick and inexpensive way to make an album. I think they would make great gift ideas too!

I have seen those books at the Costco photo center online. They look fabulous. I am thinking about having one made for my daughter--sort of a composite of all our trips together. Someday she will inherit all the travel scrapbooks but until then, it would make a lovely gift for her.

Apple Computers does the same thing. My son had one made up for his fiancee, using pictures from all their trips and accompanying written text. She was thrilled with it. Smiler

RaroGirl,

Okay I am fully understanding the WHOLE CONCEPT now ... thank you .. because I am the type of person who likes to keep the COMPLETE set of photos together - I wouldn't want to part with them to move them to a scrapbook .. I think I'd go mental. So making extra copies would be the way I would go .. then I could even chop them up if I wanted with those fancy dancy scissors and all that jazz!

The other ideas here about printed albums sounds quite nifty!

I was actually thinking of putting together a DVD Movie with music and subtitles for the girls for Christmas gifts. This scrapbooking thing has me intrigued though! Smiler

Tammie . . . methinks you've got it! And with a digital camera it is so very easy to print second photos of the really good shots. Then you can play to your heart's content.

Thanks Bing for the address of the scrapbooking site. I, too, am an avid scrapbooker and am always looking for the right papers etc for my albums. We have some very good scrapbooking stores in NSW but that site had some fantastic items that I have never seen over here so I gave my credit card a good workout and am now waiting for the goods to arrive.

My daughter and I are going on an organised scrapping weekend on Friday but unfortunately I won't have my goodies by then. There again, I don't think I'll manage to get my photos printed by then either so will just have to go on another weekend later!!!

Last week I visited the Stitches & Craft Show in Sydney and there was a new scrapbook supplier there who carries the same papers that I had just bought from the US site mentioned earlier. She said that she is at present the only retailer in Australia for these goodies. Check out her website at www.scraptheworld.com.au. She also said that she would try to get anything travel related that customers wanted. Worth checking out!!!
