I have a digital camera which is not real expensive. I have a problem with seeing the digital screen whenever the ambient lighting is bright. Does anyone have any tricks or suggestions that could be used to help seeing to sight and compose the pictures. I've talked to several people and they have told me that even more expensive cameras have this problem.

Let's make sure we have our terms right.

The viewfinder is the part you look through to frame your image before taking the photo. It may be digital (EVF) or optical. Some digital cameras do not have a viewfinder and the user must rely on the screen.

There is a screen on the back of all digital cameras. On some digital cameras, the only way to frame your shot is with the screen.

All digital backscreens get "wiped out" in bright sunlight. Use the viewfinder. If you don't have a viewfinder, it will be tough.

The screens on some cameras are a lot better than others. My Minolta DImage A1 camera, for example, has a superb screen which is visible even in bright sunshine.

As Glenn says, you could use the viewfinder rather than the screen if your camera has one. Otherwise, it's simply a matter of trying to "shade" the screen so you can see it, unfortunately.

Regards,

Chris
