Some thoughts on film:

1) Film is not made from animal products. Both the film stock and the chemicals that produce the image are made from petrochemicals.

2) Film loses its ability to hold an image over time because the chemicals will slowly react to the heat in the film's environment. If you put either exposed or unexposed film in the freezer, it is good forever. I have personally used with great results film that has sat in my freezer for 2 or more years beyond the expiration.

3) When you take film out of the refrigerator or freezer, allow it to stand at room temperature for an hour before using. Just like taking a cold iced drink outside on a hot and humid day, condensation will form on the film (yes, even in the cannister) and will show up as small faint circles on your negatives and in your prints.

Hi All,
just had a roll of Fuji ASA800 printed.
if anyone's interested see: http://community.webshots.com/user/joeseph101

initially went to museum and took a few very slow shots - down to 1/10th but ran out of interesting topics. Tried outdoors next and looks very passable.
Some aircraft shots are okay - 800 does some weird things to depth of field!

cheers,
J.B.

hey all:
I found this thread so interesting that I had to refresh it for the information of those that may have come in late.
I tried a roll of Kodak max and Fuji superia (both 400) at a weekend camp training course I was on recently and, even though I have been using Kodak almost all my life, I believe the Fuji gives a truer colour rendering.
For the Canadians reading, I have found out that "President's Choice" is made for Loblaws by Fuji. I guess now I have to try PC400 and compare it to the "real" Fuji 400.
The processors are going to love all these films I'm bringing in.
Happy snaps.
