I am now trying to download the video clips from my camcorder to PC using the 1394 cable, but the DV editing software just cannot get the job done. Every time I start the downloading process, images will appear on the screen for only a few seconds, then no more response at all. I suspect I need to upgrade my PC, especially the graphic card, RAM, etc.

I would like to learn from those skilful users of DV editing software about how to solve my problem. I am especially concerned about what are the minimal system requirements, and which part of PC need upgrade, etc.

Any input are welcome. Thanks in advance!

If you were using one of the newer Macs then you wouldn't have any problems, but it sounds like your computer is in need of more RAM and a larger hard drive to handle the transfer. Processor speed isn't that critical, but the newer machines perform slighter better, especially those designed for graphics and movie editing.
