Caitie, I don't think Ramadan affects the Turkey tour too much. Our tour started on right at the end of Ramadan, it was Friday and I think it was a holiday for everyone. It was crowded at the first ferry so we maybe waited a little longer but not very long. The plus side was that everyone was in a celebratory mood, we saw lots of Turkish people on the ferry and there was special feasting for dinner at our hotel. There was more choice than usual at the buffet according to our TD, lots of food and lots of local people. Quite interesting.
Unfortunately we had fog and drizzle in Cappadocia, so we missed seeing mountain tops and the Cone of Uchisar was enveloped in fog. It was clear the day before and it was clearing up as we left. We saw a snow capped extinct volacano on the road to Konya, we made the driver stop so we could take photos. I wrote a tale on the Insight board. |

Our tour was during Ramadan and it did not make any difference whatsoever with the tour.

I'm thinking about Turkey as well, and combining it with one of the tours that goes from Istanbul to Vienna via the Croatian coast etc. Can't seem to make up my mind though.
Don't want to be stuck in too much heat in Turkey, but want the European part of the trip to be thawed out sufficiently. Has anyone been in Turkey in April/May??? |

We were in Turkey as part of our Greek island cruise, May 2005. Kusadasi, and a drive into Ephesus for the day. Can't say we felt uncomfortable with the heat at that time of the year.
Don't leave town , till you've seen the country. |

We did the Treasures of Turkey in the last two weeks of May 2007 and the weather was beautiful every where in the country the entire tour with no extremes.
