Hi Dora,
Just became a member ! Have had some advice from friends just arrived back from a similar tour we are taking.
They moaned about tipping. But Trafalgar tours take care of that in their prices.
We are doing the `wonders of ancient Egypt, starting on the 3rd June. we know it's going to be hot. But this tour had to tie in with a following tour of Spain and Portugal. So ! shaded hats at the ready, and a large bottle of water as we head towrds the valley of the kings.
Egyptian money I'm advised is very dirty. But how you avoid receiving it as change, when paying with US dollars, I don't know. We're trying to make sure we have small denominations in dollars, then refuse any change.
I believe my wife has decided any souvenirs she is going to buy, will be at the ship or hotels where we stay, and doubtless will be paid by Visa.( We have always had a good rate of exchange when seeingour bill at home.
We will have to play it blind for one extra day. That is when we are ending one tour , and waiting for the next to start. But once again , will stick to hotel food and Visa card.
On all our other tours with Trafalgar, we have never carried much money. Just some `emergency` US dollars, and some Euros for the second tour.

Don't leave town , till you've seen the country.

Hi Nation,
Thanks for your advice. I hope someone who has been recently will be able to give some idea of cost of food.souveniers etc. Hard to know how readily available ATMs are. Enjoy your trip

I worked in a cash handling job for years & trust me, ALL money is dirty!

nation ~ Not all tipping is included in the Trafalgar price, you still have to tip the Tour Director and Driver/s. Refer to your tour documents when you receive them.

Hi Missie,
From previous tours, we found that very few people tipped the driver and director the recommended $4 per day, but gave a lump sum that suited their pocket.
Our biggest expense is the airfare from New Zealand !!! After that, nothing seems expensive !! Eeker
When I lived in England, I toured Europe( Italy) once. Since immigrating ( 1980) we've been back six times so far. But this will probably be our last. Age catches up with you eventually . Confused
