Hi everyone, I want to share this photo of our facility for little ones who have lost both parents to Aids. The event: their annual Christmas party. My assistants: Mama Majola and Mama Ntombhela. A happy photo! Smiler Smiler

~ 40 little children, all beautifully dressed. It's lovely Dalene. Thank you. Are there always 3 "Mamas" for 40 children.

I notice that there are no real babies there. Does the facility provide for chidlren of that age?

What happens to them when they get older, and would normally find work?

By the way, I notice that you're over the 300 posts, but you don't have right to personal messages (otherwise I would have used a PM). Do you intend to upgrade?

Cheers
Mallee

Is there a web site we can be directed to that would allow us to assist with this work- donation wise?

Mallee ~ we made them these pretty clothes for the event. To start the facility was Mama Pienkie Majola's (on the left) vision - she lives in this township and see the need every day. We then decided to assist her financially. We had to employ Mama Mtombhela after a year when the numbers grew.

Sometimes we have babies, taking them on a temporary basis, depending on the circumstances.

When they go to school at 7 years, we buy them everything that they need ie. school uniforms etc. and they still come to the facility in the afternoons to eat lunch.
It is very hard for these kids to become well adjusted adults and we hope that they will make the right choices as teenagers, finish school and make a living for themselves.

I don't really know how the BB work, I read abbreviations and "lingo" that I don't understand. Big Grin
I'm just happy to post and to communicate with a world beyond my own! PM's will be nice if messages are not travel-related as in this case. Let me know what to do. Smiler D.

tony54andme ~ I'm afraid I don't have a web site because this project is not operating on a big scale and so far I don't need any financial help. Very generous Americans gave me a large sum of money 2 years ago which helped us to buy the building in the township. Thank you for the gesture. Missie told us that her nun-friend is involved in an orphanage project in our neighbour-state and Missie mentioned that they receive donations. D. Smiler

Tootsiebelle ~ every year I want to adopt one but my husband refuses. He says it was hard enough to raise our 4 children he does not want to start over. Smiler

I have sponsored a child for some time now in Malawi and always enjoy hearing from her. I envy you your hands on experience.

That's even more impressive!

So do I! But I usually ask "Eh? What does that mean?"

I'll ask TT Web for you - just as people helped me a couple of weeks ago!
PS - You can see that I still don't have the hang of the BB either!!!

Hi Dalene - I've asked TTWeb to upgrade you.
There's a bit about PMs in the Help (Eve)section, under 'Tools'. Essentially, you go to your pers9onal zone then private messaging; click on 'Add a buddy' (I think it's called); choose a 'buddy' and add him/her to your 'buddy list'. Once that is done, you select him/her as a recipient - a bit like choosing a recipient for an email from a address list.

I'm notified by email that there's a new PM awaiting, then I have to login to the BB to find the extra tab on the right of the tabs which tells me I have a new PM.

More than that, I can't say, as I don't know how it really works!

However, it is v. convenient for those times when you want to make a cheery comment or so about something which isn't related to travel. Ah - there's a facility for refusing to accept PMs, I believe.

Mallee ~ I have seen your post under 'announcements' to TT Web. Have you also PMed them? I have found that the quickest way to get help for myself or others. Smiler

Thanks Dimpz. I did that. I hope he doesn't construe use of a PM as implying urgency - I didn't think about that until after it had gone.

It's not something that people would use very often, I'd guess, but every now and again it's handy.

Do you have any other useful bits of advice for me and Dalene?

Cheers
Mallee
