I know that when traveling to Europe, I take washcloths as they are not provided at hotels. Is it the same in Egypt? I am assuming so. And can you get by with sandals while looking at some of the temples and pyramids. I really don't want to wear shoes while there because of the heat. Thanks for your help.

lulu9 Just returned from Egypt, you can wear sandles no worries, I only wore my joggers one day due to the heat and realised that I could get away with open shoes wherever I went. We travelled on our own not with TT but all of our hotels supplied wash cloths.

Sandals are definitly nice but during some of the excursions, it's pretty sandy and you will do a lot of walking. I was pretty uncomfortable with sandals on one excursion as I kept getting sand in my sandals and just went with a nice light weight pair of jogging shoes. They breathe well and are light.

One caution about footwear in Egypt. When/if you go to to see the pyramids in Giza make sure you have sturdy footwear whether they are sandals or not as the ground is very hard and rocky.
