Karter...

Since you have been to San Francisco before, you probably know where to go and how, etc.

But, here is my suggestion for your 5 days prior to whatever, etc.

Get a special city pass or something like it for San Francisco. You can get one there. Ask when you get there or visit the sites I have listed for more information. Hopefully, TT will not get upset and edit this posting. Do not rent a car in SF!

We are taking a TT in the U.S. in September. As we will be arriving several days early, into Los Angeles, we have been looking at day tours to take. The tour operator does not pick up from our hotel, but says the pick up is at "Janes House". I can't find an address for Janes House. Can any BBers from the U.S. help me out? Confused Then I can work out how far it is from our hotel & decide whether to use this operator or not.

(Karter ~ Sorry to break in on your thread)

Hi Dimpz I found this:

Location:
Tour departs from Jane's House, located at 6541 Hollywood Blvd or various hotels in: Hollywood, West Hollywood, East Hollywood, Universal Hollywood, Mid Wilshire, Downtown Los Angeles, Pasadena, Glendale, Burbank, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Bel Air, Santa Monica and Century City

Time:

* Jane's House - Tour departs at 9:00am
* Los Angeles Hotels - Between 7:30am and 8:50am

Hotel Pickup:

Complimentary pick-up service available from most major Los Angeles hotels. Please click on the "View Map" icon to see if pick-up service is available from your hotel, and if so, advise your hotel at time of booking.

Important Note: If your hotel is not on this list, you must meet the tour at Jane's House, located at 6541 Hollywood Blvd and also select this option when making your booking.

The link I found is not working, I am sure you can find more info if you google it. Where is your hotel?

Cat's & Californian ~ Thanks so much for your help.

Cat's ~ Thanks for the link - now I know what "Janes House" is - it had me intrigued.

Californian ~ Thanks for the address - all I could find was that we had to be at Janes House - with no clue as to how far or where it was.

Thanks again Cool

Dimpz,

Make sure you do the tour to the Getty Museum.
If you want to discuss anything about LA you are welcome to give me a call.

Thanks for the websites Cat's. I've checked both out and have got some useful ideas for what little free time we have left - it's going to be full on for 5 days but well worth it.

The weather in LA has been very nice. It has been around 75 F and Vegas is about the same. I hear we are going to get a little warmer in the next few days.

Take shorts & sweatshirts for the evenings.

But Missie, to be 84 F inside the house, wouldn't it have to be 104 outside in the sun, and probably about 98 on the grass in the shade?

I don't have a thermometer (is that the right word?) outside, only just inside my door. It was melting hot, Disneyland was over 100, I think it got to about 104 (news said Anaheim had record temps that weekend), it's cooled off a bit for now (mid 70's)and for the next couple of days Big Grin
Vegas will be hot during the day (90 to 100) but cool morning/evenings (50 to 60)
all my temps are in farenheight (sp?) I don't know the celceus scale.

Got back yesterday from our 3 weeks.

Temps - San Francisco was very warm the first two days. We were expecting 13 - 15 degs C but it was over 20degs C which was cooler than the previous weekend. It started to cool down on Friday 18th April but the winds also picked up which cooled it down even further. Coolest day was down to the temps we were expecting.

Las Vegas was what we expected so no surprises there but Los Angeles was way hotter than what the average temps were for the time of year. 35 degs C on the first two days then down around mid 20 degs C for the rest of the trip.
