N Gill: Are you trying to make me cry? I have been away too long - decades, actually. Whenever I go back, the Glasgow taxi drivers ask me which part of America I'm from, and when I tell them I'm from Glasgow, they say, "Och away, you're no' fae here!" To which I respond, "Yes, I am from here!!!" It breaks my little heart...

N Gill, if you want a great little tour of the Northeast USA, try the Historic Highlights. That's the one we did last summer and got us rolling with the whole Trafalgar thing. It's a great trip and really gets you to know some of the early American history including the Revolution and Civil War.

Thanks Rick...one kilted Scotsman might be too much though for these people to handle!

Och, N.Gill: There can never be too many kilted Scotsmen especially viewed from behind with that lovely swing of the pleats Big Grin. It's OK, I'm too old to do any real harm--just looking, thanks. Wink

Lovely, lovely tartan--what clan? Oh, I know it's all down to Walter Scott and his romantic novels, this clan tartan business, but I love it to pieces. We have in Canada a regiment called the Black Watch and the story goes that during WWI, they scared the bejeebers out of the enemy and the word went round that "the ladies are coming, the ladies are coming." Big Grin Needless to say today they only wear the kilts for a dress parade or other formal occasions. But their hats are still the same with a Black Watch ribbon I seem to recall. It was watching this regiment marching on parade to the skirl of the pipes they I most appreciated those swinging pleats Wink.

My husband is also a Glaswegian - and on our TT earlier this year was able to go and see the house where he was born.
He took lots of photos and his father was happy to see the photos of the area.

N Gill: Well, not to split hairs or anything, but I pledged allegiance to the flag, and to the Republic (for which it stands), but not to Mr. Bush or any President in particular. Anyway, haven't you heard? We are a little strapped for dollars at the moment, so this would be a good time for you to come here instead and bring us all the gold bullion you can drag with you.
