Has anyone taken this option? I think that this would be a great way to see the canyons but am concerned that it is a short option (only 90 minutes) and that most of the time will be spent reliving “the early cowboy days with tales of murder and moonshine at the old cabin”? Do we get to see a lot of scenery or spend most of our time in a cabin listening to stories about cowboys?

Joe D;
I think Sedona is the most beautiful spot in Arizona.
The Pink Jeep tours, although at times a little hair raising, are spectacular.
Take care;
Jo

I've taken a Pink Jeep Tour and while it was longer than 90 minutes (I think it was about 4 hours) it was a lot of fun, and all the talking that the driver did was while we were driving, in other words, he might tell you long winded stories, but you'll still get to see the scenery as you go. All the stories that our fellow told us had to do with what we were seeing, so it was very interesting. I agree with Jo, Sedona is fantastic and beautiful.

Sedona is gorgeous! I took the jeep tour, too, and it was fantastic. I always thought that the desert was smooth. Big Grin

Funny! We've all been to the same place, but not at the same time...

Ask them to stop somewhere and hop off and find a place out in the desert behind a large cactus. Be careful if you squat. Smiler

Thanks for the info but can anyone tell me if TT uses Pink Jeep Tours? I don’t think they do. The Pink Jeep Tours look very interesting. Pink Jeep Tours, and most of the companies that offer these types of tours, tend to stress the beauty of the rock formations, the extraordinary scenery, the towering rock formations, the panoramic vistas and adventure. That is what I would like. The problem that I have is that the Trafalgar option (and the company that they appear to use) emphasize a tour that is easy, less-rugged, a log cabin, an historic setting, and colourful stories. The bottom line is that the TT option does not look nearly as appealing as most of the other jeep tours.

Just a note of warning about this Optional;

I went on TTs Jeep tour in Sedona last year expecting a sedate ride. The TD split the group into two - ie those that wanted sedate trip and those that wanted an adventurous one.

Well our sedate trip was the roughest, bumpiest and most painful thing I have ever been on - the track had potholes several feet deep (truly) - the creek crossing and climb to the cabin is almost vertical - and we were thrown around like rag dolls from start to finish. The ride was physically painfull throughout.

I have an existing back injury (as did two others in our jeep of 6 people) and another person had had a hip replacement. We repeatedly told the driver to slow down and had trouble convincing him that we were serious; once he realised that we meant it and that we were being hurt, he had no chance of improving the ride because of the terrain. He asked why we had come and we explained that we were told that this was supposed to be the 'sedate' version.

The scenery was spectacular, but I have never been so glad to see the end of an Optional.

When we got back we spoke to the TD and warned him that he would have an injury on his hands if he kept sending off unsuspecting people on the jeep tours, but I could see that he did not take this warning on board (obviously not going to lose optionals commissions).

Colleen - Thanks for the info. I am glad to here that the scenery was spectacular but a little concerned that the ride was so rough. I am still not sure what I will do but at least I know what to expect.

I've just come back fom the Western Discoverer and did the Sedona Jeep Ride. Trafalgar don't use the pink jeeps. The ride was lots of fun..it was a rough ride but definitely not rough enough to cause injuries. It was only about an hour because it was during a lunch stop in Sedona.
