Have never done the TT Enchanting Maritimes.

DH and I did Nova Scotia, including Cape Breton, a few years ago. Nova Scotia is a wonderful place to visit. All the 'Trails' are unique and special, as was our overall trip.

Look forward to doing the daytrip out of Bar Harbor, Maine later this summer....!!!!

There are a few TT BB's from Nova Scotia who can help with Fredericton, Halifax (fun, colorful and historic), Baddeck, Cape Breton (gorgeous), Cabot Trail (breath taking), Peggy's Cove (serene), Bay of Fundy (absolutely incredible)! for more in depth information.

The people of Nova Scotia were incredibly friendly, helpful and really nice...we enjoyed this trip immensely..my goal is to make it to PEI...fell in love with Anne of Green Gables years ago, it left a very strong impression on me!

Acadia National Park in Bar harbor is fabulous, many wonderful views of the ocean, lakes, mountains and woods.
At the turn of the century (20th) Bar Harbor rivaled Newport, Rhode Island as THE place to 'summer'...extensive, elaborate 'summer' homes were built for the many 'rusticators' who vacationed in the area.

Thanks so much for replying & your info. I am sure we will enjoy the scenery of this tour. The first book my Grandma gave me to read was Anne of Green Gables - So long ago !!! that book instilled in me a love of reading. It is an Anniversery Year for A.of GG. so should be a wonderful time to visit. Other great news is our Sept tour appears full.

I have been to the Maritimes (although not with Trafalgar), and the trip was definitely worth it. I am from from Ontario and we travelled by coach to Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island (PEI). The scenery is fantastic, and the locals are nice.

When you go to PEI,and you like seafood, then don't miss the lobster buffet that is served by a local restaurant. This is very famous, so I am sure that the TD know this. Halifax harbour is also a good place to visit.

I did this tour 2 years ago in June, we started of as a group of 25 from Boston to Halifax than we pick up another 25 for the rest of the tour than we off loaded than off at a train station, and than finished the tour with the 25 back to Boston. Very nice tour, lovely scenery.
Optionals only had 2 Anne of GG Show the people who went enjoyed it, you have to do the Sailing cruise on Bras D'Or Lake we had John he was a lot of fun he fed the bald eagles for us, hope his still doing it. I had a look at the optionals for 2008 2 new ones Peggy's Cove is an optional now, it was included on my tour, I would do it tough it's a lovely place very different.
Don't know about the Scenic Dinner Cruise.

I am heading out to the Martimes in two weeks although not on a tour. I'm visiting Quebec City, New Brunswick, PEI, Cape Breton (Baddeck), Halifax/Digby and coming home through Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York. It was fun to plan although quite frankly, it's a lot easier to pick up the phone and book a tour!

Brenda, yes. It's a trip we've been planning for years. Unfortunately, I planned it for this summer when gas is $1.50 a litre or more. I'm just going to close my eyes when I fill the tank.

Traveler229, I don't really have any firm plans when we come back through the U.S. other than to do lots of shopping (if I have any money left after paying for gas). It's the last few days of the trip so not too much time other than enjoying the scenery. Overnight stops will be in Bangor and Montpelier.

Funny, Jeannie, we had also planned to do this drive this coming September, but have put it off because of the cost of gas. Good for you for going anyway. I love our East coast and the New England States but I haven't experienced Maine, or Cape Cod and would like to.

Jeannie Enjoy Cape Breton. We wished that we had spend 5 days there instead of the three that we did. A fascinating place to visit.

Jeannie, have a wonderful time! We went to Novia Scotia several years ago when gas was much cheaper (flew to Bangor Maine and rented a car). We actually circled Novia Scotia and stayed in B and B's. Digby has those fabulous 50 ft. tides and wonderful scallops. I hope you get to see Peggy's Cove. It's a place I wish we could have stayed longer. Cape Breton reminds me of Scotland. We went in August and it was cool. We want to go back some day. Have fun and be careful!

I also did a driving tour a few years back, driving from PA. We stayed overnight in Maine and then took the CAT Ferry across to Nova Scotia. Drove up the east coast and around Cape Breton (absolutely wonderful) then over to New Brunswick to Hopewell Rocks (a great place where you can "walk on the ocean floor" as they advertise it) and drove down through New Brunswick and home. Someday I hope to do it soon and include P.E.I. as I also love the "Anne" books. The time we went I was still working and we just couldn't include everything.

Jeannie118 - One thing to consider in your driving is that it will probably take you longer from Point A to Point B than you expect. Roads are not the super highways we're accustomed to here, and I think also near Toronto, and also you will be tempted to stop and look at this and that. I had reservations arranged all along the way, probably not the best way to go but I like organization, and at times we were rather rushed. Nevertheless, I recall it fondly as one of my favorite "road trips".

Aussiecoll, I'm sure you will love it. A tour will definitely be easier and if they are like other Trafalgar Tours they will make sure you see the high spots without you doing all the work I had to do.
