I am curious if anyone has taken one of the Trafalgar Tours to the Western USA. As an example my wife and I are looking at the Western Frontiers 11 day tour for sometime next Spring maybe. It appears that this tour, as well as other similiar ones, does not spend to much time at each city (one day or so) before moving on. I just wonder how exhausting it gets spending so much time on the bus? The west is obviously big and the cities are far apart.

Billymetz- i've never done a US tour with any bus company but it's pretty much the same as with the European ones- obviously you will be on the bus to get from point A to point B. Yes, you don't spend much time in any one place. The tours are meant to whet your appetite and give you an overview of each place and to visit the main highlights. Usually, you find bus tours are the most efficient way to see a lot of places in the shortest amount of time. You also get the benefits of a lot more insight into the places your visiting than if you do them on your own. You don't waste a lot of time searching for hotels, restaurants etc. The downside to bus tours is that they are regimented- you go when and where the group goes. You give up the freedom of choice for efficiency and price. You need to decide which is most important to you- freedom or seeing the most in the most efficient way and time.

Billie,
Hope you are taking the Western Frontiers Tour---we did last Sept. and it was fantastic. Yes, lively, however, our TG never pushed anyone to get off anywhere we didn't want to---therefore if you get tired just stay on coach and rest. Happy trip and I wish I had seen this post sooner. Sweetie |
