Has anyone taken Trafalgar’s Mexico’s Copper Canyon? I could not find very much on this tour on the BB. Any feedback on the pace of the tour, food, hotels, options, etc. would be appreciated.
Thanks!

My wife and I are taking this tour on October 10.

I thought I would try one more time. Has anyone been on this tour?

In addition to the above questions; does anyone know how the luggage works on the train potion of the tour (will we have access to it every night)?

The October 10 date is looking a lot better, it's status is now "please call". A good thing as I booked my own air.

I haven't taken this tour but am booked on a 'guarenteed' departure in Nov 2008. I think actual train ride is about 6 hours and it is my understanding there is no luggage car on the train and the suitcases are bused. I read somewhere that for the 2 night stay at Posada Barrancas an overnight bag is to be packed and taken on the train and your suitcase will meet you ?? I still need to confirm but assume this type of info will be included with final docs. Cheers

Thanks for the info. I believe that the train ride to Posada Barrancas is about 6 hours but I have not been able to determine if we take the bus or the train from there to Creel. What I would really like to know is if we have access to our luggage when we get to Possada Barrancas or only when we get to Creel (a couple of days later). If it goes overland to Possada Barrancas it will probably take longer than the train.

I really don't want to have to drag around a couple of overnight bags just for one or two nights as we are going to be gone from home for several weeks and will not need them elsewhere.

Joe - I can't believe TT haven't faced this problem before. Can you ask them - maybe on here ?

But I'd say they'd look after everything rather than having a lot of (sometimes older/frail) tourists lugging their bags on and off trains etc.

Sometimes when trains/ferries are used for only a couple of nights, it's common that the large luggage travels by bus to the next land destination. Passengers only take a small light hand carry bag with their stuff 2 days. Those that always need the kitchen sink struggle with eliminating the non essentials for 48 hours. Wink

I am not sure that there is a "problem" in this case. In any event TT will not require us to drag around our suitcase. In the event that we do not have access to our suitcase we will be required to pack an overnight bag until we had access to our luggage. The problem is that I like to use a small carry on (usually the TT bag) but I find that it is not big enough for an overnight bag. Note, I have been on 5 tours (4 with TT) where I did not have access to my luggage for at least one night.

It is great when you can leave the big bags behind - especially if it involves train travel / stairs / small compartments ... Smiler Overnight with just a carry-all can make it a lot easier. But, agree, you do need certain things that aren't normally carried in your "day" bag.

Cool

JoeD, just get one of those ripstop nylon fold up duffle bags to pack in your big luggage for this purpose. (they come in their own pouch folded up and are cheap - under $20) Aferwards It can then be emptied, folded up and put back into your luggage maybe to eventually to pack your laudnry in and check it in as a second bag. You real day bag will still remain your day bag.
