I am looking at doing the Western Frontiers Tour from Las Vegas to Denver - any comments on this tour?

G'day! Visited all of OZ in Nov. with another tour operator and it was truly a great experience! Sydney and The Rocks were outstanding. Have not taken the tour you question, but here are some thoughts...Denver is absolutely covered in snow in the winter and well into the spring and really can get cold. Go in a warmer season if that and skiing are not your thing. Vegas never sleeps-bring lotsa cash and they'll clean your clock anyway! Grand Canyon is a must-breathtaking scenery. Happy trails!

Be aware Las Vegas is a very hot desert in the summer, but in between Las Vegas and Denver you have very cold winters (with possibility of snows in fall and late spring). Best time would probably be late April to middle of May or middle Sept to middle October. (not too cold in the high country but still not scorching in the desert). If this tour goes to Moab, UT that will be a highlight. The Arches and Canyonland National Parks beat the Grand Canyon in my mind as it is much easier to get up close and personnal. (not near as crowded either). Las Vegas is glitz like you have never seen. We were just there for the first time in January, and I still can not get over the huge size of those hotel / casinos.

Denver is very cold and covered with snow all winter???? NO!!! I've lived in Denver for almost 14 years and this is definitely not true. Yes, it can snow any month from September to May, BUT the snow melts off very quickly. We have a lot of sunshine, so I rarely do any shoveling. There isn't a month that goes by without a few days of pleasant shorts weather. We've had two blizzards since I've lived here and they were very unusual.
