October would be better. Sometimes we have Indian Summer when it is still hot toward the end of Sept. There will be more colors in Oct.

I'm from NJ, but have been to New England many times. It's unbelievable how different our country is. New England is about as different from Oklahoma as you can get. Picture a Norman Rockwell painting with a town square in front of a small white steepled church and that's almost every town in New England. I hope you like seafood - these states have the best. An added bonus - New Hampshire has no sales tax. It's so nice to pay the price tag and nothing more when you check out. Bring lots of film -- beautiful coastline, beautiful mountains, quaint towns and shops, all surrounded by trees bathed in reds, yellows, and oranges. Quite a sight. Enjoy your vacation.

I was raised on the coast of Oregon most my life so I LOVE seafood. Especially looking forward to the Lobster. I was an only child growing up so I did the sewing and cooking thing with mom. Dad and I did the hunting and fishing thing. We used to go clamming and crabbing every year. Fishing for salmon was a thrill. Funny you should mention Norman Rockwell as one of our stops will be the Norman Rockwell museum. I miss the coast sooo much and am anxious not only in seeing it but seeing how it compares to the Oregon coast. Thanks again. Can't wait to go. Am dying to enjoy beautiful country. Oklahoma is o.k. but there is nothing like a beautiful country side. Thanks again.. Terry

moiomamj Oct. would probably be a better time. The colors will be more vibrant in Oct. The crisp early mornings are what help to enhance the color. New England in the fall is truly a sight to see. Enjoy

moomtj...
I just replied to your answer on the "Pacific Northwest" and I thought I would answer your inquiry about touring New England. Forgot to mention that the coast of Maine is just out of this world. Maine has been known as the "Rocky Coast of Maine" and it is just beautiful. As I had mentioned in the "Pacific Northwest" reply, the leaves start turning to the various colors in late September (northern Maine) thru the October 12th weekend as it comes down thru New England. If you haven't booked your tour yet, please do as New England is one of the busiest areas when the leaves start turning and hotels and tours are usually booked solid. Have a enjoyable trip to New England. |

Dear Marie A and Moomjt.
First off...Marie A...we are renting a cottage for 3 weeks in August on Uncle Rolf Road. I have family in Dennisport. My uncle owned the Rexall Drug Store years ago and my cousin owns the laundry mat in the center of town...the Rogers. I lived in the Landmark Restaurant...before it was restaurant. I lived in Dennisport and went to nursing school at CCCC. (4 C's). Moomj...October is a better month for foliage in NE..if you are traveling far north, then mid Oct is good. Southern NE foliage peaks at 3rd or 4th week of October. Yes, Maine Coast is gorgeous...very calm, settling and will give you a surreal peace just viewing it. |

mildeben...
It sure is a "small world". I do my laundry at the Laundromat. The Rogers live just a few minutes from my house. Have lived in Dennisport for the past 33 years but have spent time during the Summer months either in Dennisport or Harwichport. Sure have seen a "big" changes in the town. 4C's still has their Nursing Program going. |
