Canada, "the true north, proud and free" and vampire-ridden Big Grin but we don't tell anyone.

For the Aussies coming to Vancouver. The high today is 13C. Even we are noticing the lack of warmth. They had an international triathlon competition this past weekend and they were treating the athletes for hypothermia. Eeker Frowner Now if the elite athletes are that cold, what about the rest of us??? Frowner They had to swim in English Bay and the water I think they said was 11C. BRRRRRRRRRRRR. Give me a heated pool anyday even if my blood is thicker here in Canada. Wink

Missie Canadians can be rather silly at times. They wear shorts in the snow at times. They ski in bikinis (heaven help them if they fall in the snow and it is icy) I will admit that I would not be wearing shorts at 15C. It has to be above 24C before I will wear shorts.

MLT: You'd need your shorts here these days. As you probably know, high temps have hit this province with a bang, four or five continuous days now with temps in the 30s and somewhat humid I might add, coz I know how you enjoy that Wink . Hope your weather changes for the better soon.

Brenda

Well if you came here, you would be wearing your fleecy. It is cool. Most people are having to replant their vegetable gardens because the seeds have rotted and not sprouted. Too much liquid sunshine for our province in the lower mainland. Frowner

Aussiebird. Sort of warmed up. At least it has not rained for two days. We had the coldest day on record two days ago in Vancouver. Today it warmed up to 22C.

Glad to hear it's warmer 22C is better than 16C here right now.
Just got our travel docs today and our TT travel bags. Looking at optionals. Not really thinking of doing many. The Mt Roberts Tramway looked worth doing. Victoria by horse drawn carriage, just wonder would it be easier to walk around.

Hi Aussiebird,

Victoria BC is a very easy and beautiful town to walk around, it is all centred around their harbour, there are lots of great shops and malls down Government road, there is also a wonderful Irish pub on Government Road (its on a corner) I can't remember the name of the other street, that serves excellent meals with entertainment.

Have a look at their website below.

I also had High Afternoon Tea at the Fairmont Empress, words cannot describe how wonderful that was. Wink

Thanks Missie that is really helpful. Did you go on the tramway in Junea or were you content with just walking around where you could from the ship?
Want to do a tour of Boeing factory in our one free day in Seattle. Anyone done it?

Hi Aussiebird,

I did the Scenic railway in Skagway, is that the one you mean. It is the White Pass & Yukon Route, well worth doing.

No Missie it was like a gondola and they called it a tramway. We aren't going to Skagway but I know the one you did from reading about it.

Sorry Aussiebird, I didn't do the tramway.Frowner Please do it so you can report back on it. Cool

Just walking around the towns is really interesting, you do very much get a feel for what the early explorers went through and it is not a place I would want to be in come winter.

The tramway in Juneau is well worth it. The views are fantastic and they have quite a good museum (small) up top. You can go on some very easy hikes as well. Please let us know if they still have the eagle in a cage up top. The eagle had flown into a plane's propeller so could no longer fly, but they are keeping it to educate people about eagles. We actually didn't take the tramway tour with the ship but did it on our own. Found it was more reasonable and we were then on our time rather than tour time. The tour did not give you enough time to see everything.
