What is the best & quickest way to get to Canada from Australia

1. Stopover in Asia?

2. Stopover in Japan?

3. Stopover in Hawaii?

4. Which is the better airline to travel on?

Cheers
Missie

Hi Missie,

So you're really coming!!! So glad to hear it!!!

As you know, this is a long journey. It is not one of my favourite flights, even though I love Australia. I'm partial to Air Canada. That's where my loyalties are, and they do have more leg room in economy than any of the other charter or discount airlines I've flown on. I select the Hawaii routing. Unless you would like to schedule a day or so at one of the stops en route, it (my opinion) is about 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Considerations? In flight comfort and actual travel time.

I spoke with a girlfriend about laundry near "your" hotel in Vancouver. She lives in the area. She told me there is a public laundromat about a 2 minute walk from your hotel. And! if you would like, they have a drop-off service, so you can drop your laundry, bask in the Vancouver sun, and return to pick up your clean and folded washing. Not bad, indeed!

Best wishes, I look forward to hearing about your plans as they progress.

Hi Missie,

My hubby and I will be in Vancouver a few days before and after our tt tour in August.

We are staying at Rosedale on Robson so if the laundromat is anywhere near there could you please let me know.

We are flying Cathy Pacific via Hong Kong and will be stopping over for a couple of days before heading home. I am certainly looking forward to spending some of my hard earned cash there. That is of course if we have anything left after our trip!

Our travel agent also suggested Air Canada with the stop over on Honolulu, but we changed our mind and went via honkers.

By the sounds of it there are going to be a few aussies in Canada during the next few months.

If you are after any holidays tips etc then there is another message on the board that has heaps of replies from "Dragon" who is very knowledgable about all things Canada which I have found to be extremly helpful.

Have a great trip.

Regards VM30

Thank you for your reply, I am not actually going to Canada until May 2006, so I will look forward to reading your trip report.

Where in Canada are you going?

Cheers

VM30 enjoy your Hong Kong stop over. We were there in October last and the shopping is wonderful and very cheap. Australia HK is a nice flight not sure about the rest. I don't mind Hawaii as a stop over but only been to LA. My son did Japan then on to Toronto a long long haul but he was 15 and slept the whole way. Part of the fun is planning the trip so enjoy all your research it pays off in the long run.

Hi Missie,
At least I have one person that will be happy to listen to me.
I find that people in our everyday life do not share the same enthusiasm listening to the Holiday chat.
That's why I love this BB.
Your 11 months will fly buy, I know the last 6 months seems like 6 weeks. Now I am getting worried I will not be organized.
As in most families in My circle of friends us girls do all the worrying & planning while the Husbands and kids sit back and get excited.
Our holiday was planned for 2006 but after a meeting with the Girls Principal earlier this year we move it forward 12 months.
I like to plan things slowly normally but I am sure it will all work out.
Cheers Holly

Holly, How could it not work out, this will be a trip of a lifetime.

I often feel that non travelling people don't listen because they are jealous, but I also don't like to rave on about my holidays in case I bore people, but on the BB we all have the same thing in common, we all love travelling Smiler

Missie can you believe we only did our passports today - 3rd time lucky.
Silly Me let mine expire and then the first trip to the Post Office 3 of us had our photos rejected - 2 for smiling and 1 for a shadow on the wall behind.
Second trip proof of a second name change from a second marriage was missing.
So at last they are in Hooray!

Hi Spooky,
Not sure what the problem is with smiling but it seems a little extreme.
Anyway we all look like terrorists now, great !
