ciaobella,

It's June, not May.

I am currently trying to find out what is on at the Lincoln Centre while I am there. Unfortunately I am too late in the year for the Opera and Ballet season, so not sure what they have on over the summer months. Am also looking at Broadway shows (not much on that I havn't already seen). Will let you know once I see what nights I get tickets for.

Roxy, any inside info/recommendations on what is on in the first week of June ??

Hi ColleenA2,

At Lincoln Center, Rogers and Hammerstein's "South Pacific" is billed. I have tix in May and am sure it will be wonderful. Click the June calendar to check for availability on the below link.

http://www.lct.org/calendar/venue.cfm?cmonth_year=6_2008&ID_venue=39925988

A few weeks ago I saw Mel Brooks' "Young Frankenstein" (Musical/comedy) - very entertaining and worth the ticket price.

http://www.hiltontheatre.com/nowplaying.php

Both are running during your visit.

There is also a "Tickets" booth (kiosk type store) in the middle of Broadway at 47th street I think (anyone could direct you to it) that sells last minute tickets with great reductions. (20-50% off) but it's pot luck as to what's available. I've only used them when I feel like gambling on a whim as a fill in for a Saturday afternoon in town...I saw Chorus Line that way and the seats were great at $50.

Let me know if you need any other info. Isn't planning exciting but daunting! Smiler

Lizv and Roxy,

Thanks so much for taking the trouble to send all this stuff - much appreciated.

I thought I had done a thorough search of the Lincoln Centre site over the weekend but didn't even see that "South Pacific" was on (I love SP) - there are just so many venues in the Centre.
I did find that the New York Philharmonic are doing Mahler's 9th though - so that is one ticket I must try and get.

Thanks for all the other great info. - all I had previously managed to find was "Lion King", "Hairspray" etc and was beginning to feel a bit disappointed.

52 days to go - (dragging !!!)

Colleen,
Are you going to make it to the southern plantations or did that have to be scrapped?

suegreg,

Yes, I am most definitely getting to the southern plantations - I was not going to miss those.

My friend from Pennsylvania is joining me in New Orleans for 4 days and we are already booked to see 5 plantations (two are on a tour, and we will have a personal guide for the day for 3 more).
I am then off to Charleston for 3 days and will see some more.

I did have to change my original plans, but as I had the good old "Plan B" ready just in case, I'm not going to miss anything important.

I have everyone's notes re. what to eat, drink, see and do in the South, and I am raring to go.

25 more sleeps !!!!!
