CA They are getting all the good weather back on the east coast, so you picked the right year to go there.

MLT,

Remember that great weather I brought to Vancouver last year??
It poured for weeks before I arrived - was faboulous while I was there - and poured like mad the day I left.
I had sun and blue skies right through the rockies (Lake Louise had thawed and was like a giant emerald glistening in the sunshine) but the bad weather followed a day or so behind us all the way back to the coast. I couldn't have timed it better. Let's hope I have some luck this year as well.

I'm meeting up with friends in Toronto who were out here for Xmas.

CA Please come again. We are tired of our rain and snow. We would like some spring weather instead.

When I get to NYC I will go directly to the box office or the ticket booth in Times Square. I usually have really good luck getting a ticket to most things as there are often singles available. Keep your fingers crossed.

I know you are on tour now and having a blast, but in case you check in. . ."South Pacific" (Matinee) was fabulous and I did see a scattered empty seat or 2.

Also check Young Frankenstein (Mel Brooks' show). I enjoyed that as much as South Pacific a couple of months back.

Liz if you can plan for a matinee or evening treat in NYC, try for tickets - it was a well done production with no negatives, other than it is a long show...3 hours with a 15 min intermission. I am tall at 5 ft 7 in and so those seats had my knees right to the chair back in front of me. An aisle seat is a must for tall people - I gave aisle seat up to my son who is 6ft 6in., my daughter on the other side of me is 5 ft 2 in. so no problem for the need to stretch her legs! . . .felt like I was in coach section of a 747! Hi Roxy,
Yes, I got a bit of the hot weather but it wasn't a problem. The day I arrived in NYC was mild, as was the next day when I took a 6 hr city tour inc the Staten Island ferry(excellent). The heat came on the next three days, but I spent all of one in the Met. Musuem (still didn't see enough), the next in the Frick and Guggenheim, and the next one nipping in and out of air-conditioned stores on 5th. Avenue so I wasn't outside that much.
Two evenings were spent in theatres and it was very balmy and pleasant by the time I got out and took in the sites and shopping of Broadway and Times Square near my hotel (it's true, NYC never sleeps!!).

South Pacific was excellent!! and would you belive it, I saw someone I knew in the cast (could have knocked me down with a feather!!)

Overall the trip was very good - especially my independant travel. New Orleans and Charleston were excellent - got to 6 Plantations - fabulous. We hired a private guide for a full day out of New Orleans and it was well worth the money.
In keeping with everyone's suggestions I tried Grits (yuk), biscuits and gravy (yuk, yuk) Gumbo (Um?) Jambalaya (OK) Beignets (good), Mint Juleps (at 11am - Wow!!)
Boston Cream Pie (yummy), Boston Lobster Roll (outstanding), New York Hot Dogs (delicious), and a heap of other stuff.

Have come back to the customary mountain of work as expected.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and good wishes.

CA2 Welcome home!!! Cool

Glad to hear all worked out fabulously; and yes, South Pacific was a delight-happy you had good fortune with it!

You are an excellent trip planner and adventuresome traveler! Perhaps TD status is next in your blueprint of travels!?! Big Grin Big Grin

Tomorrow I am off to Florida for a couple of weeks of some R&R with friends. This will be my first time taking my laptop away with me, so will try to check in for more updates on your trip! Then I leave for my tour of Scandanavia on July 15th. (Docs came yesterday along with a great "bag" this is with GLxxbxs, for those tracking the "bag" thing in today's economy.)

Don't worry about the mountain of work, just like the Alps, it will always be there, so revel in the after glow of the recent experiences, before it becomes just a fond memory. . .Wink
