I'm currently in the planning stages of a trip i'm taking with my mother in August of this year. Tour we have chosen is the Best of Canadas West with Alaska Inside Passage cruise.
As a stop over on the way home, we're wanting to do around 4 days in Las Vegas. I'm looking for suggestions / recommendations on Accommodation Quality - (cleanliness, at a reasonable price, and close to the sights). The following are a list i've looked at, and was wanting feedback on: Circus Circus (this was recommended by TA as a cheap place, he said alot of Aussie's stay here) MGM Grand Casino Paris Casino Luxor Casino If anyone has any other suggestions / recommendations besides these it would be greatly appreciated!! ciao,
I personally would not stay in circus circus, The Paris hotal is very nice right on the strip where you would probably want to stay unless you are renting a car. Most of the Majors Hotels on the strip are of quality, The Paris is right a cross from The Bellagio Which is where I stay, you can walk to the other hotels centrally located , wandered into the Paris very quaint, I am sure the rooms are nice and tidy, if you get a great rate on this one than that would be the one i would stay out, also when searching check out the pool area it will be awesomely hot hot in August go to the las vegas website , should give all the info you will need www.lasvegas.com |

I stayed 4 nights at the MGM in 2006 and it's fabulous and a good homebase hotel. It has the Monorail stop inside the hotel which scoots you up and down the "strip" in minutes. "The strip from Mandalay Bay to the Winn is probably 3.5 miles - sometimes in pics it looks like only a mile.
The hotel has fine restaurants as well as fast food places-including Mc D.'s, Starbucks and plenty of shopping. There's an overhead walkway bridge across the Strip direct into the NY NY Hotel from which there is a free monorail to Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay. You can click the search icon up top for plenty of prior discussions on LV. |

Roxy, I agree! The MGM Grand is a fantastic place, and so is the Luxor.
Circus Circus would be my last choice, due to age (the hotel's, not mine) and location. I'm betting that Paris would be fun, too, but I haven't stayed there. Yet! "Laughter is the music your heart can dance to. . ." |

Circus Circus is really old and dumpy. If you want to be right on the strip, Paris would be your best option. It is also newer than Luxor & MGM Grand. All of them are really nice, but again, Paris is right on the strip and easy to get to some of the other real popular casinos.

Bellagio is great. Well positioned and close (linked) to all. You may also get an excellent "deal" over the net if you try.
The Hilton is OK - but out a bit - but again - priced well if you look. Can depend on what you want. Hilton often has a good show and has the Casino/buffet etc etc. It is also close enough to the "outlets". As I said - the Bellagio is magnificent - the shower alone is the size of many rooms ... If its only 4 nights (?) why not go for the best - you may never return. You can eat "out" too - which saves plenty and is fun. Mike Take the Road Less Travelled |

Thanks, at the moment all is good. Cat's & Californian helped me out with an address several weeks ago. We are both so looking forward to seeing some, albeit small part, of the U.S. Live each day....instead of counting the years. |

Bryce Canyon is otherworldy. Have you seen it before? Are you doing Hawaii on your own?

We have never visited any part of the U.S. We are looking forward to seeing Bryce, Zion & Grand Canyons. This will be a really 'different' trip for us, visiting a young country like our own, instead of the history we usually see when travelling. Yes, Hawaii is on our own.
