Colleen, I always pack a 'spencer' when heading for a cooler temp area. Very light weight, and works a treat for me re diminishing the chill.

Hi Marie, I hope Pauline doesn't mind me answering but a Spencer is a thermal singlet/t-shirt, either with or without sleeves, very lightweight but warm Smiler

Missie, I don't mind at all.
Marie, as Missie said very lightweight and very warm. Similar to here

They can be short sleeved, longed sleeved or camisole sleeved (my interpretation). Smiler Usually a synthetic product. Mine are Banlon.

The weather this year is not normal. It is still snowing on our local mountains. We can still ski on our local mountains. The mountain passes still have snow and the roads are slippery to drive on. It is now almost 1/4 of the way through the month of May. Yes, it would be a good idea for CA2 to bring her hat and gloves. Even if it does finally warm up, it is not warm to her. She will be going to the Columbia Icefields and she will find it cold there. It quite often snows in Jasper in late May, early June. It was snowing at the Columbia Icefields when we visited mid August when my niece got married.

Aah, yes, I had forgotten the Columbia icefields. Of course, and now that I think of it, you did say your weather was unusually cool for this time of year. I've always been lucky in Vancouver I guess. No matter what time of year I've been there, I've only experienced great weather. Of course, it's been a while, and the weather is changing quite a bit.

CA2
They are forecasting normal temperatures for the next week. You may be lucky. Big Grin Now please remember that normal for us is in the 50's F. They are also forecasting heavy rain with an improvement in the weather by next week. Here's hoping. My garden is a swamp.

Thanks for the explanation of a spencer.

The long range forecast which can be unpredictable is around 13C for Banff My 20-22 and about 1-2 degrees less in Jasper. Usually we don't have much rain in May. It can be cold and windy at Columbia Glacier. Hopefully you will have good sunny weather for your visit, Colleen Anne.

Hello to all the Aussies and to the west coast;
If its too cold out west, come to the prairies.
Today in southern Manitoba it was 29 degrees.
We have had a very warm spring following a very mild winter.

I am sorry to have started all this some time ago,but I have had much enjoyment seeing the various tangents and side roads that have been explored under the guise of Eastern Canada. Thanks to many! My next "bit" is long term fall climate as we arrive in Vancouver Sept 1 and spend 12 days
on the West Coast. Sounds a long way away but it is moving so fast it will be here before we are ready to go.

yvon i have had to cancell my visit to canada. Frowner because the TT was cancelled we are doing a different tour, and as it finishes 3 days later canada has been sacrificed. i am very dissapointed as we had planned to go to whistler and victoria island. perhaps we can do a day trip to canada from seattle if its not too far.

I am so sorry for you.
Of course you can do a day trip to Canada from Seattle but it is quite far.

For example:
Seattle / Victoria Ferries
So you will be able to roam around Victoria Canada.
