WW It is about a 3 hour drive from Seattle to Vancouver. Not long at all and you will drive through some beautiful scenery.

WW: The Clipper is the Ferry from Seattle to Victoria, you will love the Ferry ride as well as Victoria. Are you taking your Mum to the Butchart Gardens?

WW
You might luck out and see the whales while riding the clipper. You can have tea at the Empress, go to the BC Museum, take a tour to Butchart Gardens, or just wander around the city. It is very quaint and very English. Most items are very close to the harbour and within walking distance of each other. There is a restaurant that is called "Blue Crab" which is excellent. Go inside the Empress even if you do not partake of tea. It is quite something to see.

Thats what we are doing! catching the clipper/ferry/devil machine and having high tea or tea of some form that is very expensive and then going to the gardens for a stoll.

The rest of the time we will be in seattle and we are doing something involving native americans and something involving a volcano and then some big shopping centre. Wink

WW, if you are going to the Fairmont Empress for afternoon tea you will absolutely love it, the hotel itself is the most beautiful piece of architecture. Take a stroll around the hotel in all the public rooms, it is stunning, make sure you take photo's, I'll have a look at them in November when I come over to Melbourne.

Pick up a map of the hotel from reception it will make it easier for you to find your way around.

The Butchart Gardens has a great gift shop, lots of little inexpensive souvenirs, also lots of expensive souvenirs, leave yourself time to have a good look.

The whales were out this past weekend. A pod of 12 was swimming through. The whale watching tour boats had a good show.

Missie, I looked at the long term forecast and it is supposed to really warm up and be sunny from the 31st. Rain is predicted on the 30 but not on the previous days, around 19C on May 28.
