Hello,

I have a couple of questions for anyone with knowledge of the Hawaiian Tours. I didn't see any optionals listed with these tours. Are there any offered once there? On the 11 Day Hawaiian Discovery you are taken to the Volcanoes National Park. If there is any volcanic activity while there, would one be able to see this? I have heard that on your own you can walk to the volcanic activity. Has anyone ever done this and if so,was it worth while? One more question. On the 11 day Hawaiian Discovery, there are three different prices but looks like the same itinerary. There is an 11 Day Moderate, 11 Day First and an eleven Day Premier. Does anyone know what is different with the tours that would affect the price? Thank you so much for your time!

Patsie...
The different prices you mentioned are not for the tours but for the hotels that TT is using. There's 3 different hotels with the least expensive with the lower price and the most expensive with the highest price. Hope this has answered your inquiry.

Patsy - the volcanoes have been in an eruption phase for 18 years. However, they are not like Old Faithful, as they don't have any set schedule. They may not flow for weeks, and then they may go for months at a time. That being said, they are usually NOT fountaining, and also, they erupt either in a rift zone 5 miles from the road, or into the ocean. Depending upon where you are in the park, you might be close enough to walk a long distance over the lava fields to see the steam rising from where the lava hits the ocean...or you may not. One thing, though...pay attention to the park rangers and read and follow the instructions on the signs. If they say don't walk in a particular area, then DON'T do it.

I have flown over the erupting volcano in a helicopter, and that was absolutely amazing. But I wouldn't walk over relatively fresh lava fields for anything.
