Well, nobody has said it so far so I will.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING CANADA.

We had our turkey dinner yesterday. I've been so busy lately I had a lot of catching up to on this BB today on my day off. Also had to find a new Avatar which I hope everybody can see.

Thanks. I noticed that too. I don't know why it shows up in other forums and not here.

Sorry for being dumb but I didn't know Canada celebrated Thanksgiving. I thought it was a holiday started by the Pilgrams. Is there history of how it started?

Thanksgiving in Canada has more to do with a celebration of the harvest. Because of our climate, we celebrate it earlier although the date moved around a lot until it was finally proclaimed by the government to be the 2nd weekend in October.

Happy Thanksgiving Canada!!
We have about seven weeks to go before we can start stuffing.Smiler

I think Harvest Sunday in Scotland would be considered their Thanksgiving. That's when people bring fruit, veggies and flowers to church, but I don't recall any special dinners.
Take care;
Jo

srd: You're actually correct, like other good things, we've imported the Thanksgiving celebration from U.S. culture even though in Canada we have not got the history of Pilgrims and Indians. Jeannie's also correct; it's mainly a harvest celebration but we eat a lot of turkey and trimmings anyway, and give thanks for a bountiful harvest. We're so lucky in the developed world for all the food we have.
