unfortunately no, but i have been thinking that this will be my first U.S. trip when i am finished with Europe. If i can stop thinking about the next place and the next place. But my reason for writing is that a friend of mine went on this a few years back and absolutely loved it. He spent a number of years in the Vegas area and has done so many European tours i have lost count, but this ranks up with one of his favorites, so i know you will have a good time. The country there is rugged and beautiful.
Good luck

Hello! Our family of four is taking that tour as well on that date. We have 2 children 11 and 15 (girls). Went on a Trafalgar tour last summer 16 day Alpine Adventure (?) We loved it. Also have been on tour of England with a competitor (all with the kids) Best way to go if you don't like to drive. Hope it is as good as it sounds.

One of the problems we have with our booking is the fact that we have to book our flights from the UK independantly, we are led to believe that Trafalgar will not guarantee any of the departure dates for this tour ,so we could pay 1000 for our flights only to be informed by Trafalgar that they have decided not to do the tour we booked .
Therefore we would loose our 1000 flight money that is 100% non refundable!
any views on this?

daddykool: Are you saying that passengers can't book air travel through Trafalgar in the UK?
If so, I see your dilemma, and since I'm not sure how travel insurance would work in a situation like that, I only see three alternatives:
If you have them, you could use Frequent Flyer miles which can be re-deposited in your account for a small fee if you have to cancel.
You could book a more expensive but refundable/exchangeable air ticket...OR
you could have a backup itinerary/hotel plan in the event your tour is canceled, which is preferable to forfeiting what you spent on air.

Thanks Caitie!
Have contacted Trafalgar UK today through my travel agent .
They are not interested in offering us any flights, and basically told my agent that if they decide to cancel this tour date then thats tough luck!!!
But we so much like the Western Discoverer itenery over all others that we may have to risk it and as you say have a backup tour if it all goes pear shaped!
Thanks again for your help.

I did a Western wonders tour with C....S early november and the weather was perfect for me. We did get some snow up at lake ??? cant remember just to the east of sacremento. Also it was a chilly day when in yosemite nat park but certainly not uncomfortable. you are planning on going 6 weeks later, not sure how much the weather will have changed by then.

You never know about the weather in Yosemite. When our children were young, we ran into a huge snowstorm on the pass in Yosemite at the end of June. That's our summer. Everyone was stopping to buy chains at the last service station. I am sure the buses are prepared in December.
