We are taking the tour in Sept and would like
to know what we should take in the way of
clothes for that time. We haven't traveled in
the North before so this is a first for us.

Mike:
Where "in the north" are you travelling, as in which cities or areas. Which part of September, right after Labour Day or toward October?

The weather conditions vary greatly at that time of year. For several years I've been going to camps the weekend after Labour Day. One year there was snow - very light dusting mind you - while another year it was so hot people were wilting. Actually, come to think of it, one year we wore winter jackets at night and shorts and T-shirts during the day.

BE PREPARED! Big Grin If you follow the basic rules of layering your clothes you'll be fine for any type of weather conditions. But have fun while you're here in the Great White North.

Mike57: Before I plan a trip I always think it's useful to get a ten day weather forecast for the places I'll be visiting from weather.com. Which part of the North will you be in? I live in the Pacific NW (Oregon) and September is usually still quite warm, but that is a relative concept, and if you're from Florida, you might need a jacket, preferably a hooded one, because it can rain at any time up here. 'Hope this helps.

Thanks for answering. We are flying into NY
City and taking Trafalgar to Boston, thru VT.
& NH to Quebec City,Toronto,Ottawa,Montreal,
and across to Niagra Falls US side. We are
leaving good old hot Orlando on Saterday the 7th of Sept. We'll be up there on the trip for 2 weeks. We also go to DC for a couple of days before returning to NYC. Sounds like
a nice trip. Roll Eyes

As one who travels frequently in the northeastern USA and eastern Canada at all times of the year (I have family there) I can tell you that in September you can encounter both summer-like and fall-like weather. What you will NOT encounter in September is winter - that's an urban legend! Be prepared for warm days and cool nights. Take a jacket or sweater. Layers are a good idea. You might need shorts and long pants on the same day. Remember that when you are anywhere near the ocean (or other large body of water) you can get a cool onshore breeze - even though it looks like a nice day. September is a beautiful month in that part of the world - great fall colors!
Have a great trip.
