Hi Nancy, Thanks for your email, I look forward to meeting you all. I live in Melbourne, Australia and depart at midnight June 12. I have friends and family in the UK and will enjoy spending sometime with them before the tour. Which hotel will you be staying in the night prior to the tour?
Hi Idaho Sue, Sit back relax and enjoy. I did a tour of Italy 6 years ago and enjoyed every minute. The history of the UK is fascinating and if you get a chance, do some research on some of the major towns before your leave. Enjoy your trip, and enjoy!
Lady Jean, Thanks for the support- but the anxiety has a mind of its own! The trip, once we arrive, does not cause the stress- just the long travel time getting there. Airlines being what they are with the possiblilty of delays, etc. We have traveled a bit within the US and have been Very lucky to avoid these issues, so I am afraid our luck could soon run out. Thats the darn anxiety talking again! I have been on the internet almost daily since we booked the trip looking up every possible part of the trip, from cities & motels to picking the optionals. And thats how I found this BB. We are looking forward to meeting the other travelers and seeing the history of the UK, especially Scotland where some of my roots are, being a "double" Wallace. (2 of my grandparents had the sur name) I even have a cousin named William Wallace! Tho I don't think his parents had even heard of the original one the movie Braveheart was about. Sue

Hi Sue, It is also a long flight from Melbourne! I'm fliying at midnight after being at work all day and hopefully this will make me tired enough to sleep some of the way! I have read some books that a friend sent me, and am looking forward to the tour. I also have ancestors born in Scotland and can trace back to Rob Roy McGregor the imfamous outlaw! I mother is a McGregor and my father a Campbell and "never the twain should meet". These two clans are notorious rivals! My parents have been married for 70 years (94 & 91) and have had a lively marriage. That scottish blood mixed up there somewhere, no doubt!.
Hi Lady Jean, sorry for the delay in answering. We'll be staying at the Copthorne Millenium at Chelsea stadium. My husband is a huge Chelsea fan, so he's thrilled.

Lady Jean, How near Hyde Park is the Copthorne? Walking distance? I am looking into things to see on our first afternoon there that are close enough to walk to. How about the Chelsea Physic garden? I found out that the stadium is closed for much of June and July for maintanence so it should be very quiet! Would you know how far away Wimbeldom is? Or a good place to get some tennis souveniors?

Dear Sue, If you google on the internet, places of interest near hyde park, or even how do I get from Point A to Point B this should also give you some information. Otherwise I would ask the Concierge at the hotel.
Dear Hamlet, Thoroghly enjoed the tour commencing 21 June 2008. Our tour director was fabulous and had a thorough knowledge of British history which made the tour very interesting. The tour certainly gives a good taste of Britain, and will possibly pin point places you may like to go back to. Highlights: Edinburgh Castle, Highlands of Scotland, Balmoral Castle. We did an unscheduled stop in Durham which is worth visiting. Would miss Tintern Abbey and spend more time in Chester/Ludlow. All in all a very good trip which you should do. Best Regards. Jean
