This time is flying isn't it!
Plans are coming along nicely - i think!
I got my passport last week so at least that ready.
I'm looking for a day bag that i can use like a handbag (so i can use it during the day and when we go out at night). i have heard so many bad stories about bags being snatched or slashed open. Any ideas? What are you guys using.
Wish we could leave now. but instead i annoy my colleagues every day with my count down!

Well regarding the day bag i was going to get a satchell bag like the Lonsdale ones coz it can hang in front of me, but im still deciding between that and a backpack that i'll wear forwards lol that might become a bit of a pain so hmm still thinkin,

Yes now all of my colleagues are counting down the time they will have to take on my workload Razzer

Hey you guys should read the post from Cisobe on the Breakaway Forum, he has just come back from our tour and tells how it was, good reading Smiler

Heya Minnie...have you seen the pacsafe bags? http://www.gogogear.com.au/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=3...&pagesize=100&page=1
They're slashproof, and pretty much impossible for a thief to get into. I'm planning on getting a metrosafe 200 to wear across my body during the day, and then taking a small handbag/clutch in case we head out at night. They have some handbag-ish styles as well. Hope that helps Smiler

Hehe, I just snagged one of those pacsafe bags myself (ebags.com had some good deals), so I guess we'll be safe and looking good together. Smiler

In regards to safety and keeping your valuables secure, the best thing is to be aware of your surroundings. My wife and I just came back from this tour, and the only thing we did was put our passports, atm card, 1 credit card, copies of each other's passports, and contact information for our credit cards into our money belts. besides that, my wife just took a lesports sac back (to me the ugliest bags in the world).

I think only one person had something stolen from her... her sun glasses... The main thing about being safe and not having your valuables stolen is to be aware of your surroundings. Hold your purses and bags infront of you in big crowds (and don't just rely on the sholder straps), guys put your wallets in the front pocked of your pants and don't wave big wads of money around (actually, you don't even need to carry large sums of cash with you, charge it, and just carry around about 100 euros), also, be sure to keep a hand on or in your front pocket on your wallet in large crowds. oh, and don't play the stupid tourist and blindly stare at things totally oblivous of people around you.

a few areas to be careful at...

looking at the Mona Lisa, the tight crowded streets of Venice, going in and out of crowded cathedrals or sites, gypsies on the street, people crossing through lines at the Coloseum or any crowded attractions, crowded metros...

well, anywhere that's really crowded.

thieves typically target people who are not aware of their surroundings, someone who's not aware of the danger, and someone who won't notice they've been robbed until much much later...

Wow its so soon! Can't stop thinking about it i'm so excited!

Thanks to everyone for the bag advice.
i think i'm pretty aware of my surroundings so with an extra safe bag i'll be fine
i've decided to get the citysafe 100 bag from pacsafe.
Do any Aussies know where the cheapest place to get these is. I can find plenty of American sites but they don't seem to ship to Aus without you having an American address and using a forwarding service.
