To all my fellow Canadians, have a wonderful long weekend, and a Happy Canada Day, July 1st. Sorry this doesn't fit the criterion of the forum, but it's the only way to contact you all.

Brenda

Thanks dear Missie, as one young Commonwealth country to another, you can understand how even this young country can be proud of what it's achieved in 140 years.

Beautiful warm weather. Ha. It is raining again in Vancouver. The Alaska cruise ships this year have been having horrible weather. Our city is green and soggy.

Happy Birthday Canada, have a great holiday weekend Brenda, Tammy, Mid life Traveller, and all our neighborgs of the North!, I am a little "Canadian history challenged", I tried to read up, but exactly what is you are celebrating?? I know it's not independence as our 4th of July, but somewhat similar?

Thanks for your good wishes and your interest, Californian. Here's a very quick explanation. We never fought for our independence; we just somehow evolved, no intelligent design at work, just one of those things Big Grin. But because it's Canada Day and because I know you have a good sense of humour, one of our comedians cracked the other night that although we look like you and speak like you, we at least can find ourselves on a map Big Grin Big Grin. Please don't turn me in to TTWeb--they don't understand me either Big Grin.

Happy Canada Day!

On one of my tours, an American tourist asked me if we had a 4th of July in Canada. I said "yes, followed by the 5th of July, and the 6th of July .....". Big Grin

Seriously though, our Canada Day falls on July 1st every year and we get Monday off this year as it falls on a Sunday.

Happy barbecuing everyone. The weather should be fabulous.

Sorry, Brenda, I couldn't resist. Smiler

Bit chilly here today. They are only calling for a high of 21C and there's a cool breeze. We'll have to bundle up for the fireworks tonight.

Speaking of weather (yes, it's the same here), someone in the Toronto Star joked that if the U.S. decided to invade Canada, they'd be met at the border by troops saying, "nice weather for it, eh? Wink

Happy Canada Day to Brenda and comrades - have a great holiday.

MLT, you mean all those folk on my Canada trip who were berating me for not going on to the bl--dy Alaska cruise at the end (I did not fancy it) had bad weather?? (can you see me smirking from over there???)
