One gold for every 2 million people in New Zealand.
Based on that, how many golds should USA, or Russia, even England have to win, to equal that achievement? Wink

Yay, medals at last, Nation. I even got to see the rowing bronze and was all excited at the prospect of the award ceremony as I knew they would televise it due to the Aussies winning but they only showed the gold medal presentation, boo hoo. Surely there are enough Kiwis living here for the powers that be to fit in another 30 seconds. Frowner My gripe for the day! Brenda, I see the Canadians were there in 2nd place!

Great game on Saturday from our boys and the Springboks. Smiler

I heard that if Michael Phelps was a country in his own right, he would be right up in the top 5 for medal tallies. Big Grin

Hi Well said NZ Nurse and Darlene.I am very pleased with the WARRIORS also. Our olympians have done there best as well.We can!t wait to get our travel plans started so we can discuss in more detail about where my husband and I are going on our first european trip.We are thinking of adding on the 8 day Britain and Ireland Delight to our EUROPEAN DISCOVERER TOUR. Will decide when the Costsaver 2009 book is released.

Sorry Augusta, didn't see this. Yup, we've finally got some gold, silver and bronze to take home. Note the "we" as if I had anything to do with this. Wink

Quite remarkable these rowers because apparently they have been training in lakes so cold that their coach had to go first in another boat to break up the ice. It's always, to me, quite amazing when we win anything at the summer games given our long winters, and the restriction that is on training. Sometimes I think instead of asphalt, we're more comfortable with ice beneath our feet Big Grin.

Good luck everyone.

Brenda

Feel free Brenda, but I am afraid my days of "gold" anything are well gone. Big Grin But our youngsters have done pretty well I think considering our small population. 9 Medals in all.

I think they're all amazing, ours as well, considering they went the whole first week without one medal--you should have seen the newspapers here, you would have thought the world had come to an end--and then in the second week won 18 which is not at all bad considering that Summer games, as I said before, are not our forte.

Congratulations to them all for having the time of their lives, for doing the best they could do, and for allowing us to experience just this once, one world, one dream.

Brenda

Hi Jeanette, I agree didn!t we do well for a little country. Now back to rugby. With the Wallabies beating the Springboks last weekend it now puts us against our aussie neighbours for the Tri nations trophy. MMM that should get some debate going.HE HE. Sad about the Warriors.Boo Hoo.Dont want to talk about them today MMM Go the All Blacks.
