I think that I need to start a gelato fund before I go. We always joke about having a drink fund now we will need both.

How come gelato never tastes as good at home as it does in Italy? Confused

Different milk, different cream, different cows eating different feed. We have several gelaterias in Toronto and it just doesn't taste the same. Smiler

We are very lucky were we are, there is a strong Italian communty here & there is one place that makes the best gelato. It's so good they sell it to other Italian restaurants etc The only thing I have noticed is the gelato seems more adventous in Italy. It's all still very yummy.

Cheers

LOL Big Grin My question was rhetorical Roll Eyes but I know you knew that.

Nothing ever tastes the same as it's country of origin, often it only takes a change of water to alter the taste.

Spooky if they make it that well in your neck of the woods I may move closer to you, or you can start a delivery service. Wink

JDee, enjoy! One fondest memory and photo: my husband sitting on a bench near the Basilica in Rome enjoying his gelato like a child. Smiler

Gelato is made with less air whipped into it than ice cream and so the flavor is more intense and it uses non homogenized milk which has less butterfat and therefore less calories believe it or not. . .so go for 2 scoops! Big Grin Big Grin

I adore Baci gelati. It is a yummy flavour. I've only just been introduced to it. Can't remember whether they had it in Italy or not. The TD was always telling us to go and get some gelati and he would aways recommend a good place.
