Don't worry - even though this was a very small helicopter we were quite safe.
I'm sure the helicopters over the Grand Canyon will be much more "Grand".

That type of story is not what I need to hear. Eeker Frowner

A helicopter has to be an improvement on the flight we took over the Grand Canyon and Hoover dam back in 1979.

The plane was a DC3, I think. The pilots were partitioned off by 2 drops of hession. The hostie served champagne in plastic cups; the first to be served were the pilots..... At least 1/2 the springs in the seats were broken, so some of us sat with our knees up around our ears.

The most amusing was kept to last. The wing span on the plane was so huge that the pilot had to "roll". As he rolled the plane he said, "Those on the left hand side can see Hoover dam". Then he said, "I will just turn around and now, those one on the right hand side that is Hoover dam".

If it wasn't so Monty Python we could have been outraged but we thought it was hilarious and it makes a great dinner party tale.

OK you lot, can we please now cease & desist with the helicopter talk. Eeker I am only managing to stick to my promise because at this stage I still have 61+ sleeps to go before I face my demons.

Penny ~ Talk as much as your little heart desires about small planes because that ain't gonna happen Razzer

Dimpz,

Now calm down my girl.

I talked three of my tour members into the helicopter ride last year - one went on the red helicopter and the other two went on the white ones. At the last minute I just about had to drag/push the lady onto the red one as she almost changed her mind.
When the ride finished she came off absolutely beaming and said that it was one of the most enjoyable things she had ever done. Likewise, the two older ladies who went on the white ones loved it and couldn't wait to contact their families and tell them that they had actually done it.

I have no doubt that you will love it as well !!!
