Are you all OK? Hope the earthquake didn't have any bad effects where you guys are. That was a big one methinks.

Stay safe: Brenda

Thank you Brenda, no it was not big, at least it did not appear to me, I have felt much stronger ones. The usual bottles and merchandise falling from a few stores shelves here and there, LAX had some damage at the United Terminal, a water heater started to leak hot water over a passenger checking area. I hope the tourists visiting enjoyed the ride, and go home with something to tell. Not the "big one" for certain, this one still to come....

In other news, finished packing, tomorrow will pick up my grand daughters coming from Arizona and Friday will leave for Rome, wishing for mild weather...

the news is calling it a medium one. The building I work in is on rollers so we rocked and rolled for a good 30 ish seconds (that felt like 10 minutes), evacuated, about 30 minutes were let back in, back to regular life. My sister was at the post office and thought a truck had hit the building for a second.
Brenda, thanx for your well wishes... Big Grin

Temery and Californian: I thought 5 point something would indicate some damage-. I've never heard of a building on rollers--wowza--that must have been interesting. I always worry about our family in L.A. when there's an earthquake. The last big one got cousins in Northfield good. Their pool upended and flowed into the family room and on. No sooner had they got it fixed, than the aftershocks or a second quake (can't quite recall) did it again Smiler. Not funny I know but oh boy.

Have to relate something funny, Temery. We have a little terrier who thinks he's a big dog and when he walks on our wooden deck you can hear every footfall--slightly heavy on his feet you might say--so the one time I was sitting reading outside and the deck shook and shook, and I thought it was my dog. When DH came home, he said, did you feel that earthquake? I thought he was kidding till I saw it on the news. Big Grin

Californian, have a great time with your granddaughters in Rome. Travel safely.

Brenda

Thank you Dimpz, Brenda, Temery (Temery, you take care of our California, do not want to hear anything about earthquakes when away)

Hibiscus, I hope the fires are out, watch out for Yosemite, don't let them close the park...

CA- Thanks for asking...I think most of them around here are FINALLY getting under control. Today is the first time I've seen blue skies in SIX WEEKS Eeker

I went outside & was able to take a FULL BREATH too, YAY!

SO glad to hear the quake was not worse. I had quite a few freinds down there that expreienced it.

It was a 5.4 shake, largest since our 1994 Northridge quake ($50,000 damage to our home then).

On Tuesday I was sitting in a professional travel seminar with about 200 other travel professionals in the Los Angeles Convention Center when it hit. 90% of the people attending were not from California and had not experienced an earthquake before. They all ran out of the room like "rats leaving a sinking ship". Exactly the wrong thing to do during an earthquake. But at least they will have something to talk about when they return to their own country or state.

So HT2, I wasn't wrong to be concerned about you all. Very relieved you're all OK. When my MIL (blessed memory) was ;living in L.A. for the Winter, she went through that very bad quake I think it was early 70s, and woke up with a TV in bed with her. As she said, when she got over the shock, she could have thought of more exciting bed companions . . . . Big Grin

So glad you're all OK, and so glad, Hibiscus, it didn't reach where you are.

Brenda, stay safe, all of you.
