HOW TO POST PHOTO ALBUMS

I have posted this note to assist some members who are experiencing problems in adding their photos to the Bulletin Board.

Start in the
Members Gallery Forum.

Click the "New" tab at the top of the page and then the "Photo Album" link.

A photo album wizard will appear and take you through the following steps:

• Step 1: "Basics"
  This step requires you to provide basic information about the album (name, introduction and type), choose whether or not to allow comments and select your notification options.
  
  
• Step 2: "Upload"
  This step allows you to upload files from your own computer.
  Note: the Administrator has set the maximum number of photos to 12 and the size per album to 24 MB. You may therefore need to have more than one album for your photo collection. The accepted file formats for your photos are: .zip, .jpg, .gif and .png
  
  
• Step 3: "Organize"
  This step provides an opportunity to add titles and captions to each uploaded photo. You may also add new photos, delete photos or change the order your photos are displayed in this step.
  
  
• Step 4: "Preview"
  This step allows you to confirm what the final album will look like before you approve it for viewing by other members.

If you are the owner of the album, you may edit the album after it has gone live by using the "edit" icon in the bottom right corner of the gallery view.

Every photo I uploaded said Problem each photo is more than 1MB
Please re order and then include the caption and description.
How do you re-0rder???? It says click and drag and It does nothing but move the picture not the size of it? So I am lost about the whole thing. I can't do it.

You need to reduce the size of your photo before you upload it.

I can't believe how easy it was to post a picture. I tried once before and I never did figure it out. They have either changed the format somehow, or I read dragon's instructions properly...

I am going to post some more in a day or 2, now that I have the hang of it!

My problem is that I need to reduce my size of each photo. So, I am waiting for further instructions.

Hi laydeesole,

The most likely cause of your problem is that the photos you are attempting to post are to large as each pic would have to be under 1MB in size.

What you will have to do is reduce the size of each photo before posting it on the BB.

If you do not have a software program to do this then you would need to download and install a program onto your computer that will do the job for you. Picassa 2 is one such program which not only does an excelent job but is free to download as well.

In fact there are quite a few software packages that will allow you to resize your photos to a smaller size before uploading them to the BB and here are 2 possibilities for you, both of which can be downloaded free of charge.

• Picasa can be downloaded from Download Picasa
  
  Download and install Picasa2 which will allow you to “export” your pics to another directory on your hard drive and resize it in the process.
  
  Once you have installed Picasa it will catalogue all of the photos on your computer then it’s a simple matter to select the pic that you want to resize and click on the “export” tab at the bottom right hand side of the Picasa page. This will bring up an “Export to Folder” window in which you select where you want to export the pic to and a slide bar to adjust the size that you want your pic to become. Once you have then resized your pic you upload it to the BB as per my suggested instructions above.
  
  
  
• Microsoft Image Resizer for Windows XP
  
  I don’t know what your operating system is but if you have Microsoft Windows XP installed on your computer then there is another method that you could use. Microsoft have a free add-on for Windows XP called the Image Resizer.

  Once you have downloaded and installed the Image Resizer it is then a simple matter of opening your windows explorer and right clicking on the photo that you want to resize. This will bring up a drop down menu from which you select Resize Pictures. From here you follow a simple process of selecting the size that you want from 4 size options that are available. Or if you wish you can select the Advanced Tab and set any size. The advantage of the Image Resizer is that it is free, simple to use and can do multiple pics at a time.

Once you have resized your pics you should then be able to upload them to the BB without further problems.

Any ideas as to why the "Edit" button only appears intermittently? I'm logged on and wanted to make a small change to some photos I posted earlier today but am having trouble. When I click "gallery" the button appears briefly and then disappears.

Hey Rob, I can't even remember how to edit photos let alone to find the darn buttons!!! Can anyone please remind me as I think I'm having a "seniors moment!!!"

I found out the reason I was havng so much trouble - my firewall was blocking the site. As soon as I identified this as a "safe" site, all was well!
As far as editing, once you log on and go to the pictures you posted, you will see a couple of buttons close to the "Gallery" at the bottom of the pictures. Press the appropriate one ("edit album " or "add photo" and do your thing!

Hi robandmaria, apologies for not responding to you earlier but I am only on the BB every now and then and have only just now read your query. Well done in resolving your problem yourself.

Hi Suziew, as Rob has already indicated, you will find 2 icons in the bottom right hand corner of your gallery page. The one with the plus sign will only allow you to add more photos to your album whereas the one with the image of a pencil eraser will open a window in which you can re-organise your photos, change an image, delete an image or add more photos.

Hi there Rob and Dragon, thanks for your help. It took me ages to find the buttons you were talking about. I was just about to book myself in to see a psychiatrist!!! I've seen a few pink elephants and then, with a flick of a picture there those darn buttons were! Thanks guys!!!
