Yes we have dollar stores in this part of Canada. We call them Dollaramas. Everything is a dollar. Notice how sharp I am. Smiler Yes we can get loofahs in packages of three.

biotrav, i saw a pouf actually called a pouf in Linens and Things, or whatever that store is called. Dollar store price is better though.

Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

Hi Brenda and Californian
Thanks for the info. It is interesting to actually see them use that name. I must tell my wife that the guys can use the word poof or pouf. Big Grin

I've just finished reading all your "tales" just loved every second (and there was many).I am going on the Grand 23 Sept, can't wait. I was interested in the optionals cost. I hadn't planned on doing many but after reading your tales maybe this might change. Approx. how much money should I put aside for the optionals. Thanks again for the great insight into the Grand European. Meg

Hi poodles
Wow it won't be long before your Grand European. Hope that you will post when you return. I am excited for you just thinking about Europe.
There are problems with the site so I am typing this for the third time.
My wife and I did all but two of the optionals which cost us a total of 3400 euros. I know that it sounds like a lot of money but this is a once in a life time experience. If we could do it again we would certainly do all the same optionals again.
In my opinion it would be a shame to go to Europe and return home saying I wish we had done the optionals. It is interesting that my wife didn't want to do most of the optionals but the minute she saw the list she wanted to do all but two.
Hope that I have been able to help you. Hope you have a great trip. Smiler

Thanks for advice biotrav. I was just thinking if I done all the optionals would there be much time to just roam around, shop, smell the coffee etc. Did you get much free time on this tour or it is go. go.go.?? Meg

Hi poodles
Just keep asking and hopefully I can answer your questions.
We were always on the go but this is a once in a life time experience so enjoy everything. If we did it again we would do everything again.
You will get a chance to roam around, shop, enjoy coffee but at an fast pace. We were given free time and we were able to enjoy it.
As is mentioned in TT's literature this is really not a relaxing vacation. TT will show you everything that you would want to see.
I just asked my wife if our tour was fast paced and she emphatically said it was. She said she wouldn't have it any other way. I certainly agree.
I really shouldn't say this but on one thread someone was asking if Europe gets certain TV channels. I don't think people understand that this is an intense, fun, enjoyable tour. There is no time for TV. One can enjoy TV at home for the rest of their lives.

Absolutely agree regarding tv,sounds like good advice. I'm getting excited now but not looking forward to the long flight (approx. 24 hrs from Australia). Another question...regarding meals that are provided.. are you given much of a choice? Seems like there is always chicken on the menu everywhere and guess what...I don't eat chicken. Thanks for your quick reply, very much appreciated. Meg

Hi poodles
It is great to talk to someone who is going on or been on the Grand European Tour. There aren't many of us so I am also excited for you. I also realize that you are leaving in September so time is of the essence.
About 3/4 of our coach were from Australia so we can appreciate the long flight that you must take. We are very fortunate since it only takes us about 5-6 hours to get to Europe from Canada. Smiler
Yes we did have a choice of menu most of the time so you should be able to get around eating chicken. You will be getting a form, when you are on the coach, about your likes and dislikes. You might want to write down that you don't eat chicken. I also recommend that you take the TD aside and tell him/her that you don't like chicken. In some of the places we had a number of meal choices which was nice.
I hope you don't mind my asking but do you like poodles since you are using that name. My wife loves poodles and has always had one over the last 30 years.

P.S.
I just asked my wife and she said that we had quite a bit of chicken on tour. Sorry my memory is good but short. Frowner
