Heavenly Father, look down on thy humble servants walking around in drip-dry underwear and mailing postcards.

We pray that the Operators speak our tongue and that there is no mail from our children causing us to cancel the rest of the tour.

Lead us into good in-expensive restaurants where wine is included in the price of the meal and if we skip historic monuments and churches and take a nap after lunch, forgive us, for our flesh is weak.

Protect our wives from bargains they cannot afford and lead them not into temptation for they know not what they do.

Save our husbands from making fools of themselves in night clubs and from comparing foreign women to us and forgive them not their trespasses for they know exactly what they do.

When our tour is over, help us to find someone with the patience to watch our home movies and listen to our stories and all this we ask in the name of Trafalgar Tours.

Amen.

Anonymous.

Happy Easter, Cheers...

Dear cavajo,

I believe God will enjoy hearing this very creative, true and decent prayer and magically make all European hotels providing (American style) washers and dryers, as God's eyes are getting so tired of seeing tons of drip-dry underwear hanging all over tourists' "poor little" hotel rooms.

Happy Easter! Wink

Thank you for the Traveler's prayer. I plan to read it often while on tour.

That is great. You should make a copy for all of your tourmates next time.

I received that prayer on our tour of the Best of Portugal. The tour guide gave each of us a copy.

Personal Prayer Update (Fourth Line)

The Tourists' Prayer

Heavenly Father, look down on thy humble servants walking around in drip-dry underwear and mailing postcards.

We pray that the Operators speak our tongue and that there is no mail from our children causing us to cancel the rest of the tour.

Lead us into inexpensive restaurants where wine is included in the price of the meal, and if we skip historic monuments and churches and take a nap after lunch, forgive us, for our flesh is weak.

Keep us away from pickpockets and scam artists, and please provide us with efficient, patient, and understanding Tour Directors and local tourist guides.

Protect our wives from bargains they cannot afford, and lead them not into temptation for they know not what they do.

Save our husbands from making fools of themselves in night clubs and from comparing foreign women to us, and forgive them not their trespasses for they know exactly what they do.

When our tour is over, help us find someone with the patience to watch our home movies, and listen to our stories and all this we ask in the name of Trafalgar Tours.

Amen.

Cavajo, where did you get this? It's brilliant and very true as well.

Thou shalt not expect to find all things precisely as they were at home, for thou hast left home to find things different!

'scuse me for butting in, Dalene, but I'm with Rex. My reason is in the realms of the forbidden subjects of sex, religion and politics.

That's on a personal level only. I wouldn't expect non-Christians to conform to my attitudes, and I hope they'll feel free to express themselves and enjoy it.
